to Jackie Chan...
Hong Kong and Taiwan are chaotic,
So what if those two place are chaotic?
Jackie Chan is getting old and impotent so he should just retire to New Zealand if he does not like chaotic places.

As Angels, we knew that you are hiding your fear, and fear turn a man to the devil. Free yourself, dun worry. For I tell you that we angels in heaven always see the face of our father in heaven. I can bring you to salvation. An angel of God appeared to an unsaved man and accurately told him how to learn about God's salvation or buddhism or hindusim or whatever good God.

Without the control, how do you think they can take such massive amounts of the people's money, put such massive amounts into their own pockets, gamble away such massive amounts to foreigner and behave in such a traitorous manner... and get away with it?
i thought the topic was jackie chan == communist?
somehow, i have a feeling there is an ongoing thread about PAP or LKY...
there is always a thread about PAP or LKY.

the usual apply, later there will also be angels, dogs, licking, ass, anus, despot. All coming soon.
Of course what Jackie Chan said is true and correct.
Jackie Chan is a smart and insightful person, and the audience who clapped were also correct.
Of course, this kind of thinking is not new or special.
I do not think he said it only as a lip-service, he really believe in it.
By the way, he also said a few other things there, which can be taken as critical, such as young generation Chinese people who absorb outer culture influence, and also the bad quality of Chinese products.
So it is not for sweet lip-service.
But regarding this specific point,
I agree with him that too much freedom or democracy can bring unintended consequences. I am not sure about the situation in HK, I think it is still managable, but maybe it is "Luan" for Jackie Chan standards, but definitely Taiwan is a "Luan" case, and let us not forget Thailand where it is completely 100% "Luan".
This proves that democracy should not worshipped as some kind of sacred cow. There are some potential pitfalls which need to be recognized.
Unfortunately, some people are too brainwashed and worship it as a kind of sacred cow. They even make topics such as "Is Jakcie Chan communist". Today is what age and what era already, but some people are so happy to use outdated jargonism and labelism, exhibiting a kind of extremism and dogmatism. This proves they are even worse than any kinds of communists or other thought-extremists. In truth, the most superior ideology is pragmatism, that is to be moderate and to recognize the advantages and the disadvantages of different things. Something that Jackie Chan and other sober people are able to do.

I agree.
Somemore some states like to use pretext of "democracy" to go and interfere in other state's internal affairs.
But an autocratic state like our Singapore where people don't have any rights and everything is under tight control is also to be opposed, not supported.
Ya lor...use democracy not enough...add in the word human rights, freedom of speech...to interfere loh and in the end, many country suffer...bloody zealots, idiotic zealots....
how ironic here, ppl live under paternalistic communistic country like singapore, saying other people is communist, i think people even in socalled communist country have more freedom than those singaporeans
i think there must be some misinterpretation of Jackie's word, he cannot say something like this, as chaotic, i would Taiwan's political enviorment is chaotic, but at least it's transparent, but i am not sure whether the same kind of democracy which is applied in taiwan, could be applied in china in a short run.
"Even in communist China, peaceful protests are tolerated," said Chee Siok Chin of the opposition Singapore Democratic Party.
...The real motive behind the law is to prevent any public expression of disaffection and anger against the PAP’s governance because not only will it bring shame and disrepute to the PAP, it will also shatter the myth that it is a popular government voted into power by the people.
The PAP knows that People Power is the only way Singaporeans can remove them from power. By curtailing the right of Singaporeans to assemble which is guaranteed under our Constitution, Singaporeans will have no choice but to play according to the rules set by them...

Singapore is a highly repressive and oppressive state.
Lee Kuan Yew on how to rule Singaporeans:
"We have to lock up people, without trial, whether they are communists, whether they are language chauvinists, whether they are religious extremists. If you don't do that, the country would be in ruins." - Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, 1986
"I am often accused of interfering in the private lives of citizens. Yes, if I did not, had I not done that, we wouldn't be here today. And I say without the slightest remorse, that we wouldn't be here, we would not have made economic progress, if we had not intervened on very personal matters - who your neighbour is, how you live, the noise you make, how you spit, or what language you use. We decide what is right. Never mind what the people think." - Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, Straits Times, 20 April 1987
"At this rate, the one-man, one-vote system could lead to decline and disintegration" - after the Opposition won 2 seats
“I'm prepared to banter with you. I'm prepared to humour you. But if this were an Orwellian society with an Orwellian leader, would we be having this conversation?”, Sunday Mail Magazine 1990 on being a "state out of 1984"
If nobody is afraid of me, I’m meaningless." - Lee Kuan Yew, 6.10.1997
"Mine is a very matter-of-fact approach to the problem. If you can select a population and they're educated and they're properly brought up, then you don't have to use too much of the stick because they would already have been trained. It's like with dogs. You train it in a proper way from small. It will know that it's got to leave, go outside to pee and to defecate. No, we are not that kind of society. We had to train adult dogs who even today deliberately urinate in the lifts." - Lee Kuan Yew on Singapore society, The Man & His Ideas, 1997
"Please do not assume that you can change governments. Young people don't understand this" -- MM Lee Kuan Yew on the results of the 2006 election
"Without the elected president and if there is a freak result, within two or three years, the army would have to come in and stop it" -- MM Lee Kuan Yew on what would happen if a profligate opposition government touched Singapore's vast monetary reserves
ahhh... peaceful protest in china... think that happened before... made this guy famous...
and killed alot of people...
so, yup, China allows peaceful protest.
Singapore on the other hand has no peaceful protest. The gathering at speaker's corner? That's just an illusion... never happen. If it did, than, Chee Siok Chin , and those who quote her will be lying.
"Chan added: " I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want."
We only need to look at the last sentence of the report, to know what Chan is getting at.
Look at the anti-PRC postings in this forum, most of it is about their excesses.
The Chinese are a controlled society since from eons, from the days of the warlords and the kingdoms.
Once that control is loosen, yes they do just what they want to do, and to hell with you.
U either serve.. or be served. lol! Chinese style.

I have chatted with some China colleagues on this issue.
The foreign media has often neglect to mention that there were rioters attacking the policemen and government officials before the crackdown.
