  and trying hard to generate more money thru rental, but my utility room still not completed enough for me to move in.
  
  then of all things, the washing machine conked out....then strangely that u hook thing to put up the bamboo to hang the clothes....that one also break!
  
  troubles come in cyclones!
  
  anyway, i know i am still blessed.
  
  went back station, immediately got a new job planned out for me in police force again. and they give me freedom to travel a bit, except that i must be around for jan-april 2008.
  
  then i went for some interviews and was immediately offered a job. and i will be learning new stuffs as well as refreshing my old knowledge again. though the pay is minimum...but i look at it, that i am starting out a trainee kinda pay is very good enough!
  
  But because of this new job.....I cant go over to cambodia and phuket as planned. Just maybe can afford short trips. 3 days trip the most.
  
  plus....got a suzuki burgman to ride around...still paying my bills and i am still relatively healthy.
  
  I need to change the burgman to something smaller though. its hard to squeeze with the burgman and its not as versatile enough when I need to do tight u turns or just pushing it back to get out of a parking lot.
  
  only gripe: that I must be mellowing way too much to finally decide that I give up hope on men.

  i'm surrounded by strange people at work...
  
  they give the vendor a hard time and the vendor bends over backwards for us..
  
  i have the solution but they do not want me to do it... insisting that the vendor must..
  
  thursday, they transferred a couple of videos into the notebook so that they can use it.. but they want a CD of the videos instead... the vendors who have bent over backwards are also idiots.. who encode 13 minutes into about 740MB... who the hell rips 13 minutes of DVD into 740MB??
  
  it doesn't fit into a CD so i use the only DVD drive to copy it into the HDD and use a thumbdrive to move it over to the notebook...
  
  the vendors find an error in the final product and will deliver the discs on monday, so i let it go...
  
  today, they want to use it and are in a panic.. i give them my thumbdrive with the stuff in it but they decide to bring the notebook..
  
  something i don't get... i offer to teach them and tell them the difference between a DVD, a VCD, an MPEG rip, all kinds of technical things which they will need to know if they want to play the thing, but noooo.. they insist on being idiots and want a 'one-size-fits-all' which cannot be delivered.. but they insist anyway...
  
  i tell them that if they really want a high quality picture, we bring our own things like a cheapo DVD player ($36 at Giant) and the DVD disc.. but they refuse saying that the places they go 'cannot hook those things up'
  
  i hope the next guy who comes in on monday doesn't have this attitude where he insists on being dumb and insists he's right..
  
  i never understood what they want with a notebook when they don't want to carry it around.. it's a sure way of delivering the video...
  
  btw.. they called me when i just fell asleep...

  i try to tell them, and they have the audacity to say they don't want to know..
  
  we don't have a DVD drive on the notebook.. the only way is to rip the DVD into mpeg or avi.. which is easily done.. but they don't want me to do it...
  
  the vendor does it.. but makes a hash of it because.. 13 minutes is 740MB???
  
  who in their right mind does that? i can have a whole movie of 1 1/2 hours in less than 700MB!!
  
  and the picture quality is also amazing for that compression!!
  
  worse still, their insistence on being ignorant has allowed them to be conned by charlatans giving bad advice.. and the worst of all, i think my colleague got conned by her husband...
  
  stupid stupid stupid.. i can't say a thing because i do not want to cause any trouble between the stupid colleague and her husband...
  
  side issue.. colleague is so ignorant of things, she's doesn't even know what a beaver (the animal, not the slang meaning) is.. heck! i showed the pic to her and she says she's never seen one!

  they cannot get it into their heads that an MPEG rip is just a data file...
  
  now it doesn't play properly, i don't know why because it played okay on thursday..
  
  they are asking me why i didn't chase them yesterday.. i told them outright it's going to be the same damned file.. on CD, DVD, thumb drive, HDD or whatever..
  
  to them they keep saying VCD.. i have told them over and over these few months that it is NOT a VCD.. and they keep saying it is
  
  i'm not going to rescue them.. they're in yishun.. i told them to use the thumbdrive and they don't want to.. tomorrow, they have some event to go to which they need to use the thing.. again, i told them to use the thumbdrive... i don't know if they will..
  
  i'm going to get flak on monday.. and i'll probably blow up at the boss if this continues..

  if I didn't face similar problems with trying to show fucking videos or presentations because of all the fucking hardware/security/whatever limitations, I'd find it hard to believe you

  I have a video presentation I need to show at the end of the month, because management wants 'high quality', I'm just going to bring my own fucking dvd player and hook it up to the projector in the conference room.
  
  Yes, our PCs all do not have DVD drives and our DVD players are the ancient type that probably cannot even read my DVDrs

  they'd probably want a completely new notebook or whatever it is when i've told them ad nauseum to go buy a cheap DVD player to bring with us... it's bloody smaller than a notebook and will not screw up..

  in windows media player, if you press the forward button while the movie is playing, it will go super fast. even stopping the file and re-playing it again does not help.
  
  to go back to normal speed , get them to click the reverse button ONCE while the video is playing.

  yeah, its retarded when a dvd player smaller, lighter and only costing less than 100 bucks will do the trick.
