oh.. i have a question... it's about resolution and photography... digital, that is..
if i have a good camera.. say, a D70, D80 or maybe even a D2Xs
i snap a picture at its highest resolution, maybe even RAW..
will i have problems with pixellation if i SHRINK the picture?
if so, will getting a 'high end' camera like a Hasselblad improve the quality of the shrunk picture? -

also take into account viewing distance. pixelation/jagged edges may not be visible to the human eye if you're standing at normal viewing distance, rendering the whole point moot e.g. giant ass blowups from 4 megapixel cameras have been used on billboards and stuff.
for example, look at a typical painting from normal distance and then closeup. -

just asking coz the totally airhead colleague probably got conned by her husband.. i think he bought a hasselblad for his photography business thingy.. which he has since closed shop and is working for other people now...
he told her that before... she was telling the boss that when 'compression to lower res, requires that the initial raw footage be taken from high end equipment'
because the vendor somehow cannot encode a good quality VCD from their footage which is good enough to produce a damned good DVD..
i had to keep quiet because this was her husband who offered such advice, probably to buy that hasselblad...
she's leaving on monday.. i can then tell the boss without her around that it's nonsense... somehow, the ignorant woman believes that with you require a very very high quality footage to get good VCD quality...
i KNOW that none of the production houses has the hardware to encode VCD at high qualities anymore because VCD is dead as a medium..
to the two idiots i have to work with, you cannot get good VCD quality from a DVD or DV tape -
