That was a nice and neat post by elindra.
My ex was lower educated than I was. I paid for almost everything. I was almost like the "guy" in the relationship. It ended because he was too possessive. No, I'm not exaggerating. I was like a freaking toy to him at his beck and call. I'm not a toy. I'm not a maid.
Possessiveness: Controlling my every move around the island. Not allowed to meet up with any friends whatsoever. If yes, will be under huge scrutiny and suspicion that the other party/parties is/are guys. No guys allowed in ANY form of contact. His words are superior to my own parents.
Not forgetting he was violent to all his other GFs, and his family, and so far, as far as I knew, I was the only one not to kenna any beating up.
I prob only enjoyed the part where i got exposed to the different walks of life in Singapore (i was naive and innocent, REALLY dumb actually.). it was nice to get to know all sortsa people and no, i do not ever discriminate anyone based on education. Education is important but just because 1 does not have a piece of paper, I will not say that he/she is stupid.
i enjoy the different perspectives. and reading these forums always give me that too.
and no, I will not discriminate a rubbish collector either. unless this person is a murderer or something of that sort, he is only earning a decent living and I will respect that. Who I be with is very much dependent on the chemistry. Money is important but if I really love that person alot (eg: my current BF), it won't be so vital. Yes, it plays a part, but if both sides work to make the r/s work, all these are really secondary. -

Gosh juz_A_gal, sounds like one of my ex!!! I paid for his freaking studies, I paid for all his meals, his clothes, his mobile phone, watch etc etc and he was just as freaking possessive as well!
He kept putting me down and used all sorts of emotional blackmail against me. Hell, he didn't raise a finger against me but the things he said hurt even more.
I do believe in nurturing a relationship and being a nobody now doesn't mean you won't become a somebody but it got to the point where I snapped. Oh, yes, he DID treat me as a maid as well. I don't mind sacrificing for a guy I love, but he must be appreciative as well. If you want me to settle for less in life, I think that's the least you can do!!

Erhmm I don't wonder where the nice guys have gone to. I have met really great guys and that ex was a great guy initially till he took things for granted.

Jus find it ironical that aft all the hype abt their high expectations, crapping abt local guys inadequacies , the guy that SG gal eventually end up with is usually laughable & disappointing..
Example: SHE will scoff at the average local guy, equating all his characteristics as bad points. Stable job = Boring lives, Seek her opinions & respect her feelings= Too sensitive, unmanly
Then she gets totally smitted with a wolf in the sheep clothings ANG MO, whose only goal is to dump her high & dry aft bedding her.
What's more laughable is that Ang Mo may be some poor, CMI bloke in his own land, where the white chicks dun even take a 2nd look at him
And here , he is being worshipped like saint !!
