There are two reasons i dun like abt you...
1) For not allowing your friends to smoke outside ur corridor and not to allow them to re-enter or go into your hse?
2) Not allowing your brother to come into your hse for the reason becoz he's a smoker? -
First, there is house rule, if he don't respect the rule, he doesn't respect u. then I hate smoker to the core ... but in society, they is so many of them you can do anything BUT when it come to my house, it's my say ... want to come make you don't smoke until you are out of the house and away. I do have some smoker friends. They know my rule and they respect it.. I respect them too when I am with them, I got no choice but to take the smoke. As it is I'm happy where I am.. my whole family don't like smoker, wif and children.. so they are also happy with the arrangement... if need be go out to meet smoker friend, when I arrange to meet, it is alway somewhere they cannot smoke.. when they arrange, it is somewhere they can smoke, so it like we learn to accept the arrangement lor.... luckily most of the time I arrange the place....Originally posted by dcx:ya...i've no say abt how you're going to live your life n ur hse rule...juz throwing out my views abt you. -
i am not a smoker. but i allow my friends and relatives to smoke when they visit. i even keep an ashtray for them. i personally feel that 2nd hand smoke is not as bad as most non-smoker make it out to be. afterall my friends dont come often and they dont smoke non-stop.
i make it a point to open all doors and windows for proper ventilation.
again it is up to the individual.

I feel very unfair for non-smokers saying that smokers are inconsiderate...becoz i, myself feel that i'm very "automatic" when i'm smoking outside or friends (non-smokers)'s hse...
For instances, at coffeeshops, i'll either keep a distance or go elsewhere to smoke if there's any women with kids or pregrant...even if it's a distance away, i'll not exhale out the smoke to their direction...
At frens's hse, i'll only go outside his hse n smoke..unless he/she smokes in his/her hse...
Most smokers will do the same as what i've mentioned above...no matter how much you hate smokers...i certainly hope that you'll not generalise them... -
Maybe u are considerate. but from your wat u say, I've not seen one especially at the coffee shop... once at the coffee shop my family n I start to eat when this guy blow his smoke over.. I told him 2 b discreet, he snap at me n say no law against smoking in coffee shop. I kept quite. whole family very irritated n I told them 2 finish fast. After that I went 2 the guy and cough right into his face. I told him u give me smoke I give u cough,not happy can fight it out.. he chicken out when I lift my fist 2 wack him... They smoke for enjoyment or relaxation.
But the cigarette smoker is different.
This smoker is addicted.
Smoking out of habit.
Smoking because of the urge to smoke.
This smoker is individualistic, even in a social setting.
This smoker is mobile, and smokes largely in public.
When the cigarette smoker light up, the smoker assumes an attitude.
An introvert, self-centred attitude, absorbed in smoking.
Watch closely, the smoker couldnÂ’t care less.
Oblivious to the world, the surrounding.
This is the nuisance.
It is now known that side-stream smoke is more harmful than smoke
that is drawn through the cigarette.
Second-hand smoke is excreta.
Anything ingested and expelled is it not excreta?
Does the cigarette smoker care?
Where the smoke flows, where the excreta blows, where the butt is discarded,
where the ashes fly.
The world has changed.
Intolerance for cigarette smoke is at an all time high.
And cigarette smokers are defiant.
Perhaps they should take a leaf from history.
Let smoking be a tribal (groupie) thing.
Share the joint or pipe.
Smoke only on occasions.
Give up on addictive smoking.
It good for them, and they can still enjoy a smoke.

all i am saying is, life is really unpredictable - no one can be sure of what will happen next. why not just leave us alone. someone ever said (this person is not a smoker), smokers should not be judged - they did go around killing people or set fire (some direct translation). --
ok, ok, i know what anti-smoking campaigner are going to say - we did do the killing but indirectly but remember nothing in this world is absolute. this world as it is, is already killing itself. the fumes and illegal discharge by the industry etc etc. This 'indirect' contaminations are just like mosquitoes, they need not to be local - they can be hundred of miles of away but the wind carries them here. The power of wind is able to carry dirt over continents. it has been scientifically proven. with all the industrialization, cancer is a growing trend - even amongst non-smoker. the fumes we breathe in everytime we walk on the street. they maybe invisible to you, they maybe odourless - but fact is, we are taking in them into us all this while - whether u like it or not. we can't stop breathing right?
the restriction that will be imposed is fine with me. inconsiderate people exists in every social levels and groups, smoking was singled out because smoke can be seen and smell. as it is, many people have suffered from gambling, and alcohol abuse. y not discriminate them? why not ban 4d, toto, horse-racing etc etc countless have suffered due to alcohol abuse. personally i think they are worst, as drinking intoxicate the body and deny one's body from reacting or think coherently. coffee shop brawls are common - not to mention wife-beaters. some resulting in death (i mean the coffeeshop brawls).
whoever say smokers couldn't care less, this whoever is probably right - having said that, do this person really care less about others when you burnt incense (I do burnt incense on occassion - I am talking about any religion or traditional practices that requires to do so - no offense - just citing an eg)? when you let your dripping wet clothes out to dry (in the flat)? do you stop driving or stop taking public transport because it is infact killing the air? huh? oh, dun tell me about mrt runs on electric - where does our electricity comes from? (for this, the contribution has been major and over hundreds of years!) -
you can come up with all sorts of reasoning but the decision lies with the govt. the only way to help yourself is to quit.

sometimes, ppl tend to forget one very simple yet impt thing.
WE SMOKERS ARE OSO HUMAN.
we err sometimes,
there are black sheeps that are inconsiderate,
we may have a death wish.
but does this mean non-smokers are always better? someone who throws tissue paper on the floor, plays loud irritating music, ppl who preach to u or tries to sell u things despite u telling u r not interested, etc. they are all pests to me as well. do i generalise that they shd all go n die?
"yi zong mi yang bai zong ren", ppl are who they are becos of the way they are bought up, becos of their char, nature of the society they live in etc. not becos they are smokers or non smokers. before u complain next time, take time to remember tat we are human too, jus like u, and u are far from perfect anyway. -
