Definition wise, its make up by people and investing certainly sounds so much better.
But motivation wise, both are out to make $$ work for them.

People can gamble on anything.

how many individuals trade in the stock market. go ask around, not many. but how many are tempted to walk into a casino and get addicted?
there is a limit as to how much you can trade in the stock market but not the same for casino.
it is much easier to get addicted and go bankrupt at casinos than the stock market. -

If you lose too much your friend/friends tell you to stop. The brokers give you credit to play some more. don't die also bluff. -

I have to advise you that the limit one can trade in the market is far beyond ones earning capablity. that is as good as saying there is no limit.
take me as an eg. I dun earn much but my trading limit is 100k. I can trade up to 100k a day mind u.
How to qualify that statement tt it is much easier to get addicted and bankrupt at casinos? I see ppl getting bankrupt playing the market as well and infact they get bankrupt so much faster engaging the market.

frankly i dont know what kind of account you have. you are first one i know who does not earn much but can trade 100k a day. in fact you are the first one i know who can trade 100k a day. none of my friends have your kind of limit. maybe it is because you are a high income earner but try to be modest.
back to the topic at hand.

how many generally will trade so much. i know there are people who trade heavily as you suggested but how many, in terms of percentage?
people generally dont trade so heavily. and only people who go for margin trading end up suffering losses beyond their means. -

i have never heard or know of anyone who trade normal but go bankrupt. brokers dont extend credit limits without you showing proof of your financial status. -

You are encouraging people to gamble. If I borrow money from banks and then put it in my stock accounts; the bank does not know that I am borrowing money for gambling.
The brokers do not know I borrowed the money.
This is different, they are providing money that people do not have for gambling. -
Differences is gambling the chances are probability you will lose to the casino or TOTO 4 D... But Stock Market, if you possess mastery, research and analysis the chances are probability you will win.

That is for "investing" but for speculating, gambling in the stock market, the number of people who speculate and lose is more like 99.99% and those 0.1% will end up losers as well.
To say that you can make money if you posses mastery; you are saying that you can gamble and be sure of winning is talking nonsense because gambling is gambling and is based on chance and luck.
It is not like sports or the arts or craftmanship. Where if you do it over a long period of time you become better and better at it.
After a gambling the stock market for a thousand years does not mean that your luck will become good all the time after that. It is and will always be dependant of luck even after a thousand years.
As long as it depends on luck, everybody sooner or later runs out of luck and lose all their money.
If you are lucky and make money, the market is always there waiting for you to run out of luck. -
the number of winners in the stock market are few and far between.
generally the winners are the big players. not retail investors.
BUT retail investors like us dont generally get addicted and trade to bankruptcy.
