  17 seems a bit old to be caned but the father could have kicked her out of the house, right? she got the lesser of two punishments.

  I agree. He is still the father. And as a daughter, at the very least should respect his house and not come back drunk.

  Anyway she should not return home drunk.. there better way to punish her like withdrawing her pocket money, curfew etc.. caning seem not so good when you are older.

  If caning's only for the younder , less mature people, then your sister should show more maturity by knowing how to take good care of herself if she wants to escape caning. Otherwise, think there's no age limit for caning. Even grown men kena rotan wad. So wad's a 17 yo.......?
