Not oni music but going out as well on the weekends too. For me, as I grow older... I prefer to go to a Pub and wind down... have some drinks and some nice conversation wif friends. I just took the reference from i-Tunes that's all. Think the streams might not be of very good quality though.

i just bought a compilation.. "all that... Jazz"..
nice mixture of music.. i especially like the rendition of "the Waltz", "When i fall in love" and "glory of love".. -
First time I heard about Norah Jones was from reading a Silver Kris magazine from an SIA flight.
Tried to get her album but was sold out at two stores, but when I heard her from the radio-stations on the net, I thought that her voice was more "country" then "jazz"; although on one or two songs she did sound "jazz".
There is a DVD of Norah Jones in concert that I saw at a music store, but the music instruments used by the band did not seem to be those that one will find in jazz music. -
In the compilation "All that ...jazz" - does it include a mix of singers from the early 50's, 60's and down to the present ?
I think I tested it at the store, and found some of the tracks were good, but those from the early days did not sound as real good quality recording - then again, maybe I was using the earphone during the test hearing which probably did not give show the true sound quality.
Any good place in Singapore for live "jazz" that you know of ? -

The "All that Jazz" CD didn't include 50s, 60s.. actually even if there is, i can't tell.. hehe.. not an "expert" yet.. just an appreciator..
places for live jazz?? I think somerset's bar at swissotel is good.. there's live piano too at teatro in esplanade.. and lastly harry's bar at esplanade plays nice blues.. other than these.. i'm not too sure.. do you know any place other from the ones i mentioned? -
The Swissotel that you mentioned, would it be the Somerset Bar at the previous Westin Hotel ? They use to feature some good artiste from time to time.
There is that place at Boat Quay (the one behind the McDonald's) that feature nightly impromptu performers. They feature more musicians then singers.
I heard about the "No Black Tie" in Kuala Lumpur, and never did have enough time to drop into that place when in K.L.
It seems to be "THE PLACE" for good jazz performers, and with most of them being local enthusiasts.

Yes Swissotel I mentioned is the previous Westin Hotel.
Oh I forgot to mention Billie Holiday. She got a very unique voice. Those kind you hear on a LP. Once you hear her, the B&W movie imagery will definitely come to your mind.
Read that Norah grew to love jazz because of her.
