Come to think of it, Legola's hairstyle is very pretty, it actually attracted me for another look at him. I guess there is a bit of gayness in me too.

in an asian point of view - maybe yes.
certain facts about the myth, coz the characters of the different races and culture in the western mythology behaves differently.
Dwarves are brute, shun the humans and live in the highlands, mountains and caverns. Though shorter in height than an average human, dwarves are strong and powerful warriors. Not an adept at sorcery but they are better in resisting psychic assault compared to an average untrained human. Dwarves are craftmans and many good axes and hefty weapons are forged by themselves.
Elves are borned archers (though i can say that Legolas' marksmanship is a little far too exaggerated!), good with the shortsword, swift and dexterious. Most elves have that slender build and unassuming outlook, which makes their charisma at all time high. Woodfolks they are and like the dwarves, they shun the human race too. However, they are able to understand everthing about the lives in the forest, from the inhabitants right up to the trees. Elves will never run out of bows and arrows. They are craftmens just like the Dwarves. They string their own bows and make their own arrows.
Hobbits are gays? Well in a way they are not combants and comparing them with the human race, dwarves and elves, perhaps they are like sissy in our eyes. Just remember that the Hobbits are simple folks and if it wasn' t for the fact that Tolkien put them in his book and entrusted the Hobbits the quest to destroy the Ring right at the Devil's backyard, i am sure Frodo, Sam and the rest of the gang would rather stay home and watch TV. -
