  For $700, I can DIY a Intel P4 pc. This Cel chipset pc not worth $700.

  yes although i agree that if u diy u can get a beta spec...
  
  but i dun think ppl are cheated to get the com.. if u also need a 3k max online then i think its quite a gd deal.

  i think alot of people is wrong.
  
  Compaq is actually a very good brand, especially when they merged with HP.
  They got dunno how many excellence servcice awards since 1999 i think.. and also got service centers in singapore..
  
  anyway..the not so good part with this computer offer is:

  hmm...basically everything! 1). Celeron at 2.53Hz now is super cheap, nowadays is 2.8-3.8GHz.
  2). CRT montior????? wat a waster of space, now all LCDs liao. a CRT is super cheap nowadays even super VGA, its like 100-120 bucks can liao, 3). how come only 128MB??and DDR version one somemore, nowadays people have to use at least 256MB, even my laptop is 1GB RAM!
  4). NOT sure about DMA hard drive, but normally ATA harddrive is better?
  5). whats a pure CD-ROM drive? tot now at least is a combo, CD-R/DVD drive?
  6). The intel extreme graphics is actually not good, its like the default, meaning that there is no better graphics card installed, its just the "common" one that comes along with the PC.
  7). XP Pro is preffered than XP home, especially if you are a student or have intranet in the company, cuz XP Pro allows workstation/intranet lock in, etc.
