SG Traffic police's 12 new WRX this Year 2005

Personally think not gd for Subaru image lah... WRX.. police patrol car..
Also a wastage of tax payer money. Spore is sooooo small and our Police force is so well organised with gprs, radio communcations etc..
Doubt if any errant driver could outrun our well organised police without bumping into a road block..
But interesting the WRX would encourage our NS policeman to speed unnecessarily.. Afterall, "licence to speed" is given... WRX.. all hell may break loose.. Better avoid the highway man..... -

I doubt it is as patrol car. It is used by TP only. juz like the BMWs n Volvo now.
So u will only c in roads n expressways.. not in ur neighbourhood carpark -

Actually i dun see why the TP's selection of the WRX should be bad for the car's image.. Isn't it an endorsement for WRX from the cops? It is actually like clearing of old stock... afterall, the new facelift is projected to be mkted in 2006-7. I differ in the way you think, I see it as a way of promoting the car as a reliable and great performer. We are already very stringent in road blocks... etc.. to get a modified car pass our high std police force is almost impossible. Er.. to invest in WRX, BMWs, Volvos for our police force is a bit of a ..... waste.
Wonder how many times do they actually use their powerful 225 bhp to gd use ? Or it is just buy for the sake of buying the best ? or it it Face issue ? Since SAF top commandents already have it ??
I have no answer.... Maybe next step, we will need some heli-patrol just like States where they monitor speedster on highway etc..
When will we ever end ? I have no answer.. If someone could shed some light..

Errr.. to chase after speeding motorists?? So as to nail them on the spot, check to see if they have a valid driving licence, do alcohol breath test etc. If we depend on a fully speed-camera system we'll never be able to do this rite? Drivers summoned will probably just use other people's driving licence to 'receive' the points. If a traffic policeman were to see a car speeding away, he can't possibly set up an impromptu roadblock in front of the car to stop him mah.. and how often do we have roadblocks anyway. So only way is to depend on cars with a fast pickup to chase after the speeding fella, stop him and see if he has red ants in his pants or something to justify for speeding.
For all that, we can't possibly depend on the good ol' Mazda 323 rite? Besides pathological speedsters usually have rather mean machines that'll probably leave any normal patrol car hopelessly far far behind.

I don not understand why people are griping abt the TP getting fast cars. They've always had fast cars for the expressways. The Beemers and the Volvos have always been used for patrols on the expressways and have cost a lot more that the WRXs to acquire and run. Why the sudden pish-poshing now?? Not really.. It's just keeping up with time thats all ! Don't forget, most of our defence departments are ISO 9001 award winners and the Singapore Quality Award winners !
