i beleive uusally ppl will consider buying a car if they earn at least 3k. so its abt 2.4k after cpf...from the above payments, seems like it would eat up anything between 20% to 50% of your takehome...

Got my first car (Vios) at age of 28. Earning >3.5K. But I still prefer to dump my money into diving.

Me just got my car 2 weeks ago ... a Nissan Latio Sport. Current age? 28 coming to 29 this year ....
I didnt think of buying this car until this year as got a change of job and getting slightly better pay to be affordable. Paid almost 15K as downpayment and monthly instalment of 840.
Still riding a bike ... Honda Super4 VTEC and will still be keeping it also as it is loan free liao.
Last time use to think that earning 3.5K is enuz to buy a car .. perhaps a Getz, Vios or something smaller. Now think that after owning a house which I got one last year plus renovation plus funiture and etc ... owning a car is a bit xiong.
If not the car allowance .. I dont think I will buy even I got more than 4k per month -

Anyway, FC and cheap maintainence really lower everything. You down 15k, still have to do a 800++ installement, must be quite a short loan period. So you forward to your loan end, then continue driving that car to enjoy the freedom from loans.

Like wat u said , now then i realise singaporean are really alot. I am 29 but earning less than u. Juz got a 2nd car n still got lots of stuff to service per month cum a new born girl. Sigh!!
