Watched the news just now? Govt is adding 3 more gantries at ORchard Road.. to EASE the traffic flow.. and saturday's an "ERP day" too...

They are literally squeezing the balls off us man.
Imagine, catching a taxi on Sats results in you requiring to pay the ERP when u enter town

Or, is this their way of making Orchard more alive or relevant and vibrant (dollar-&-cent wise)?!

U pay to buy the car, you pay to use the road.
You even pay to visit a shopping district to SPEND
Even before entering Orchard, you've already spent money getting in and out...via...ERP
So much for reducing our spending dollars nowadays huh?

Scarily is some new scholar in LTA who was tasked to come up with steps to deal with congestion in the Orchard area during weekends, and that was all he could do. I think they like it, 'cos they earn at the same time. Win-Win situation. Don't we all lurve it?......
I suppose the person is slated for a promotion now -
i think soon all car park will have one... once you drive out of your car park, you will need to pay.
enter into expressway, pay again. enter into another town you pay oso. CBD area full day 7/24, 365 days you will need to pay...

Public Transport fares keep on increasing...
ERP gantries everywhere...
And they're encourage us to take public transport...pay so much to squeeze with the crowd.... not as if the transport fare increase by one dollar we get ample seats in the trains or buses during peak period....
They seem like driving us to the wall siaz.....
Better think of some way to strike rich liao... -

this is indirectly telling you that orchard rd is too crowded, if you Singaporeans want to shop go to those neighbour shopping malls.... dun crowd up orchrd rd it is for the tourist.

Orchard Road IS crowded... but ERP just isn't the way... they say less ppl will want to drive into Orchard, cos the ERP is from 12 noon to 8pm... but then, that just means that more people will take the trains...
The MRT is already very packed from people going home from work... imagine how much more packed it will get. I already have trouble getting onto the train at City Hall to go to Orchard cos it's so full... If the frequency of trains isn't going to increase, then the MRT will begin to look like Japan's subway... always so packed and crowded... esp when people still don't know how to move in... there are always empty gaps in between 2 sets of doors, just because the person right next to the gap has no consideration to move in for others...
I think next time, we'll all have to FLY a helicopter into Orchard road... They should look into re-routing traffic from orchard, or widening the roads, rather than charging people for entering the area... -
