yeah. tat was during the bus forum days.Originally posted by finoq:actually I found out this cycle myself at first by noting all the TIB suffixes (SMRT buses), wrote them down on paper...and found out the order...I remember it starting with A...divide it into groups...
AYUS-PLJG-DBZX-TRMK-HEC
then thanks to some really old thread in the Bus forum by ^tamago^ i discovered this order was used for private vehicles, vans etc. as well.
Also after a last-digit 9 number the order skips one letter or something...but this does not apply to a difference in thousands (eg. 999 to 1000)
the suffix is derived like this:Originally posted by TwinTurbo_Supra:ohhh...
then the confusing letters?
i meant, how do u define confusing letters?Originally posted by ^tamago^:the suffix is derived like this:
1. 26 alphabets, remove 7 confusing letters i.e. F, I, N, O, Q, V, W.
2. reverse order i.e. ZYXUTSRPMLKJHGEDCBA
3. take alternate i.e. ZXTRMKHECAYUSPLJGDB
orh. cos the alphabets look like numbers from far, like the letter 'I' looks like 1, and thus can be confusing.Originally posted by TwinTurbo_Supra:i meant, how do u define confusing letters?![]()
but S looks like 5.Originally posted by ^tamago^:orh. cos the alphabets look like numbers from far, like the letter 'I' looks like 1, and thus can be confusing.
good one, but then, this is sometimes done in an mutual mannerOriginally posted by TwinTurbo_Supra:but S looks like 5.![]()
oooo yahor.Originally posted by ^tamago^:good one, but then, this is sometimes done in an mutual manner
F was excluded due to similarities with E, but if u see something tat looks like F, it can only be E
I was excluded due to similarities with 1.
N was excluded due to similarities with M.
O was excluded due to similarities with 0.
Q was excluded due to similarities with 0.
V and W was excluded due to similarities with U.

what is the reason for the cycle to start from T when the first alphabet in the alternate-reversed order is Z?
ZXTRMKHECAYUSPLJGDB
there u have the 19-letter key to the suffix cycle.
SBA1T
SBA2R
T is the suffix for SBA1. only for SBA, the first alphabet is 'T'. for SBB, it's 'M' (skip 1, T -> (R) -> M).Originally posted by Xcert:what is the reason for the cycle to start from T when the first alphabet in the alternate-reversed order is Z?
ok understood.Originally posted by ^tamago^:T is the suffix for SBA1. only for SBA, the first alphabet is 'T'. for SBB, it's 'M' (skip 1, T -> (R) -> M).
good one. i forgot to disable the '0' number. haha. it's definitely not valid.Originally posted by Xcert:ok understood.
Is there a plate "E0Z" around?
I put in E0 and it came out with a Z.
I understand from ur logic how it came up with the Z but just wondering if E0Z is a valid plate or not.
1 more question...How does the program know whether the prefix is valid or not?I presume U hard-coded the valid prefixes in and let the algo run to find the corresponding suffix,if any?
yup, PA, PB, PZ, TIB, CSS, CB also.Originally posted by SBS1985C:WOW! This even work on SBS buses.

eg if i put SCM it will tell me all the registered number plates that have SCM
where to find this prefix list?Originally posted by ^tamago^:the prefix is generated from the LTA prefixes list.
