I've seen thai plates in sg so i dont think the plate needs to be translated.. at most when pple take license plate number they just have to draw.. hmm. what car is it? SUV n off roading cars etc. shld be fine with floods.. unless really deep..

but generally..it'll take u 3 hours from ipoh to kl..then another 3 hours to reach jb..
so i think +- is around 13 hours..

well, this Mr Contact has been very pessimistic.
I am not gureentying the safety 100%, but as much as my experience and knowledge, its pretty much safe to drive through malaysia in NS highway. i have no worries at all. there are many thousands of cars driving everyday.
and to compare the drive trip to taking flight, its different thing. its not about the cost and time. its more about enjoying driving trip. there are lots of different things and locations to go through. its totally enjoyable which can never get when you take flight (get off here and get down there, is more like going there instead of travelling there).
its pretty safe in malaysia lah.. i dunno about the southern parts of thailand... heard news here and there. maybe it is still safer for a thailand plate cars.
so bro, just drive through, but have a little care on the way.. and enjoy..

If you're familiar with the roads, and if traffic is OK (ie. drive at night).....
BKK - Sadao Pass: 12-14 hours
Sadao Pass - JB: 10-12 hours
Of course, you have to be a mechanical person to do that. No one ever does that continuously - they usually take breaks along the way, so it'll take about 2-3 days to reach Singapore.
Take note though.....that you will need insurance and permits to get your car into Singapore.
Also, don't forget that you'll have to bring your car back again the same way....all the way to Pattaya. Oooooh..... -
