FC is the main reason for TC to lower the price, with BM to intro new Altis coming Feb, other car made may need to reduce price.
When Mazda3 just sold here,it was like $90k range, since Altis came in 2003/4 their price start to drop, and now a M3 cost less than a Altis. Why? cos FC is the main factor for every car buyer now.
10km/l and 12km/l may make alot diff in long run. -

prior to altis dun have corolla meh?? there is the japanese assembled G9 hipporolla...the fc was also better than mz3 what... then after that borneo motors starts to import the thai assembled corolla altis....
of cos its common sense to try to jack up the price when the car is first introduced and slowly lower the price as circumstances dictates....
so the reason why mz3 starts lowering it price is to stay competitive in the face of new competition... in this case being a 'new' or rather facelifted corolla... -

The Price of a car r determine by demand-COE.
Taking away COE is the base cost + profit by agent.
When LTA release the break down cost back in 2004 car price start to drop as buyer can c how much dealer r making.
Come back to price ,the only component agent can play around is their profit, COE is base on their cash on hand to throw in for their customers. The OMV rebate reduce in 2004 is not that much- for 1.6 car is around 7k-10k.
When ppl start to c the diff and resale value the price start to drop.
Price drop for G9/Altis ard 20k, Civic 20k and Mz3 40k.
Sunny 40k.(2000-2007) The life span for current model for Mz3 and Sunny r long ,since yr 2002? and 1999?can't really rmb. -

the thing is i am not talking abt G9 prices...
i am saying is that when mz3 is first introduced... there was the G9 already there... but it went ahead with skyhigh prices for mz3... why??
cos mz3 is new... and more chio than the G9( or any other car in this class available then for that matter)
so did mz6... which costs in excess of 100k....
after which both of them start to reduce the price to stay competitive... its juz common business sense...
and with regards to why civic din drop prices.. like u said its good... i dun deny.. it can even afford to brush aside the competition of lancer EX... which in terms of specs i dun think can match the civic....except maybe for the top end model...
but ur mistake in ur other posts seemed to pinpoint FC as the one and only cause as to why distributors will want to lower their car prices... which is not the case..... -
For new buyer dun really look at FC, for ppl driving often and clock high on milage will look at the FC. Not only ppl changing car from Mz 3 to other car make ,also Mz 6 owner changing to other 2L car. Anyway base on the fuel price at $2/L and still going up the trend now is as fuel saving as possible.
Mz 3,lancer and Sunny engine r aging, if the New up coming Mz 3 still cannot make it in FC, dun think it can sell that high in pricing. -

1 thing to point out on the high pricing, I rmb the waiting list for Mz3 was very long,8mth, during the early days cos the nos. MM taking in is very few.That is 1 of the reason, BM can bring in large nos of cars in 1 mth which not many AD can.

At the MCP, saw 1 no. plate which previously was a Mz6, now it's become a Camry, I wanted to ask the owner why he want to change car cos the Mz 6 only 2 yr old.

FC play a BIG part.
Wait till you see how many jazz and fit is sold in 2007....then u can have a clearer picture of the buyer mindset.

through ur posting.. it sounds like u are trying to convince urself that its a good thing u din buy the mz3 after so many years...
sure... it drinks and is underpowered... but isnt it myopic to judge the mz3 based on engine and FC alone... as everyone knows. mz3 is based on the volvo s40 chasis... the handling and safety will be better than any jap car in that range.. not to mention the good looks... -

Mz rank lumber 6 tell yr story, 21,000 units behind lumber 1 and 14,000 units behind lumber 2 in year 2007. Even in yr 05,06 Mz is far behind.
And Nissan drop from top to 3.
