If you get a good one....u're lucky.
If you get a good-on-the-outside-naughty-on-the-inside one, you will suffer.
Can anyone enlighten me on how much my insurance will roughly cost me..? Here's my info again; 22yrs old & just got my license 2 months ago... The car I'm getting is most probably Proton Savvy...

There's no "perfect" car in my opinion. If he likes it, then no one can stop him.
But can change his opinion...hehe

It's all up to him.
well i think shouldnt get a car now if there's not a real need for it. if it's just for driving to and fro work, a taxi would be much more worth it i guess. save some $ for rainy days!=)
Easier said than done especially when low COE prices look tempting for prospective buyers.
well i think if u've alr been planning for some time to get a car bcos of practical reasons, and that u can well afford the luxury to do so, den i must say this is the best time to get one due to the low COE price, cos u'll be saving as much as $10k. BUT if it's the plunging COE prices that got started thinking of buying a new car, it'd be stupid to succumb to that temptation, esp. if u've just started working or if ur pay is <<$3k. u'll be ending up slogging ur life away just to pay for that machine.
Got a point....
True...totally agreed..
Hi, you may want to consider the new chevolet aveo 5... heard the price quite attractive... only 38k.. if opc then only 21k

It depends on his liking....really...because most Proton cars are also around that range...
no need to justify ur reason for owning a car to everyone... if u can afford it, then go ahead...
Hi all while im here just wanna share my experience with second hand car dealer.being a newbie i bought my first car with this company in woodlands advance speed trading ...and kina cheated...when i test the car the first day before payment all okie checked the enigne test drive etc ...engine got no funny noise....then when i collected on the 3rd day after all the paperwork after a few hours got all kind of funny sound...bring to a few mechanics they say got major enigne problem
need to overhaul....when go back to the dealer they threaten and abuse me...finally they just like gangster ask me do what i can...so betta beware this company.....Now making police report all but not sure what they gonna do...so all those into second hand cars betta beware
Haiz..... looks like not all second-hand car dealers are honest...

Sorry... whether OPC or not...my advice is to reserve at least $1000 each month....There's just too many components to take care of....The insurance itself will 'kill' you even though OPC's insurance is lower than normal car's insurance, simply because you are 22.
even though its an OPC, the insurance is still the same as a normal car. insurers don't look at usage. rather, it looks at hirer's profile, ie. age and driving experience. for any driver age under 26 or driving experience less than 2 yrs, additional excess of $1,500 applies. looking at TS's profile, premium should be ard $3k to $4k annually.
my advice is wait for at least 2yrs b4 getting a car. even if u get a COE car, the annual premium is enough to kill u. the contributing factors are your age and driving experience. if u get a '93 honda civic esi, ur annual premium is ard $2.8k for third party only.
unless u register the car under ur father's or mother's name, provided they have a valid driving licence and have been holding it for at least 5yrs.
ultimately, its all up to u. if u can afford it, no one's gonna stop u frm getting a car. if ur income can cover everything frm monthly instalment, daily maintenance, annual premium and road tax, then by all means go ahead.

Oh, I went to a subaru roadshow last year and apparently when I enquired about the insurance part for the Impreza, they told me that insurance is cheaper for OPC than normal cars...but I reckon it isn't going to be much of a diff....
buy a 2nd hand car that you got confidence in paying up in full
I got my 1st car as a lao pok chia that cost me $7k that time and the car is near the end of the 2nd COE. paid everything in full and tada .. 3 yrs down the road and now i see my 55% NCD..
that is if you really need a car...
no $$$ no car .. simple as that ..
do your maths right

Cool...but how about maintenance? Is the car working well to your expectations?
