yeah... think they following in the footsteps of toyota...
and for the sylphy.. besides the rear torsion beams... they are having rear drums as well.. even for the 2 litre models... tt's quite unacceptable...
when they sylphy first came out.. there were pple questioning the low specs... so its no coincidence that the sylphy aint exactly selling like hot cakes...
i wld say car makers are now knowing where to cut corners... but buyers are not totally idiots either...

Apologies, I understood your point about a good MIJ car as the Mz3 having a 5th gear ratio. Yes the Civic is ex, but I think vis a vis comparing the launch price of the Mz3 and the Civic, the Civic would actually be priced much more competitively - but that could be due to other reasons like the drop in COE price.
Similarly, I would expect the new Mz3 to be priced even higher than the Civic - possibly the 70-80k range.

Seems like the only car worth buying from Nissan is the GTR..

mz3 launch was at a time when the COE was relatively high as compared to now..
Civic high price is justified and the buyers know it.. tt's why even up till today.. the price of civic remained relatively constant from the day it was launch...
the new mz3 if its priced beyond the range of civic.. then it has to be justified....
i would like to stress again tt most car buyers are not idiots.. LOL

avante is a good bet.. if not the next best thing would be the mazda followed by the civic...
GTR is not really my cup of tea.. once in a while yes... but for a long term car for everyday driving.. i wld rather spend the 200+k on some continental that has refinement and sophistication...

wah sentence structure in the previous post a bit misleading leh. ![]()
KIA is taking a leap in producing more like continental style car. Thanks to the guy that design the Audi TT now working for KIA.
So anyone knows when they are getting their Forte?
in May I was told.... Haven't heard from my SE since he informed me of my successful COE bid.
When your COE bidded? My was in 04 Feb..
I think it was on the 16th Feb? got mine at $4,460
Is the Cerato Forte strictly an Asian model? Or will it also be brought into Europe? I doubt so right? Previous Cerato didn't make it to Europe as well.
Added: Oops, the previous Cerato DID make it to Europe, my bad. ![]()

Europeans have the hatchback equivalent, the Ceed.. Was it you who mentioned before that europeans tend to prefer hatch/estates while asians generally prefer sedans? That's why you can find Merc E class, Audi estates etc while locally, they're a rarity..
It is always good to clarify all your doubts with the SE first before confirming your purchase. ![]()

I doubt there's any link between the C'eed and the Cerato Forte? Kia is bring the Cerato Forte into Europe even though they are already selling the C'eed over there. So it's two totally different models.
And I wonder why Kia ain't bringing the C'eed into Singapore. Maybe like I've said before, Asians prefer sedan over hatchbacks/estates. But it'll compete beautifully with the i30, Focus, Astra and even Golf. What a waste.

Mine was bidded last week. but my SE told me my Forte will only come in late April or early May...
:-(
Just spoke to my SE today, he mentioned that my car is likely to come in May, or even June, because I chose Red which is not very common color. The wait is much longer than he said when I ordered the car. Much to my dismay, but what to do, can only wait lor...

Oic.... usually new cars are like that... have to wait patiently...
Wow, I read the advert: "the first 4 shipments of the 1.6 SX have been sold out..."
it has so far received very good remarks from the press...
and its designer is the one who did the first audi TT and the new beetle.
Ordered mine yesterday at Alexandra. None of the youngsters interested to serve me. Their loss...signed up with the older staff that approached me straightaway for the 1.6 SX Auto model. Too bad can only get it in May '09...darnz really excited..my very first car... lol
Got it at S$48,999...they said the 1k increase is due to the standard leather seats which aren't optional anymore lol
Why the fuss about the torsion beam rear suspension?
Are you taking the car to the race track?
Forte SX comes with ESC standard, that is electronic stability program to counter any potential loss of control of the car. If you have a car with independent suspension front and rear, without ESC, when you drive it to the limit, what is going to save you?
Which car in the price range of even 10k more than the Forte comes with ESC?
Let's be practical about things and judge each car on its own individual merits shall we?
