If you want a fair amount of power, go for the DOHC VTEC engines.Originally posted by NewLicense:Can Any kindsoul Reply me . ? tell me the Differences . ?And which of these Cars are worth buying ?
Actually, for a newbie driver, a 1.6 corolla already feels quite 'powerful' (own experience + frens... mebe we lousy driversOriginally posted by HENG@:overall, SiR would be the infamous boyracer civics u see plying the roads here. VTi is decent only.
Oh i know of a ridiculous air force regular who didn't want to let his ex-gf(my friend) drive his 00 spec VTi saying it was too powerful and he didn't think she can handle the power. ha!
128bhp is hardly anything to get excited about, esp considering the SiR's 170bhp. I really ought to give him a taste of 240bhp, except that my friend wants nothing more to do with him.![]()
orh haaa....... the Turbo R is 112k brand new. er EVO7 even 2nd hand also about 120 to 130k? S15 brand new is 130k but now a bit hard to find. i know theres someone offering a silva S14 for sale for 54k though, check out yahoo auctions singapore. STi.... um..... i would never go for the car & brand that caused the deaths of 2 top professional international rally drivers, IN ONE SINGLE YEAR(2003). as for EVO8MR.... u gotta top up a lot from the airtrek turbo R to get it wor... the turbo R is really a budget EVO7 in disguise.Originally posted by CryoGenic:Actually, for a newbie driver, a 1.6 corolla already feels quite 'powerful' (own experience + frens... mebe we lousy drivers) compared to something like the 1.3 323.
Of course now drive for a decent amount of time liao, if ppl try to 'show-off' 130bhp, its nothing much...
Saw some of ur postings, Airtrek Turbo eh?Casually tot of getting one for my next car (no money la, juz tink only
) but for tat price, mebe can top up some more get Evo 8 MR or mebe get a 2nd hand Evo7, Sti or S15? hmmm...
I'm sure the Airtrek Turbo R is powerful... any other 'advantages' or plus points, so to speak, about it? (Besides the fact its an SUV comparing to a sedan).. thanks!www.emoteeglobes.com
Oh ... 112k ah.. tot it was 120k.. tink the figures got messed up in my headOriginally posted by HENG@:orh haaa....... the Turbo R is 112k brand new. er EVO7 even 2nd hand also about 120 to 130k? thats only the engine....handling-wise cannot lar....It's too darn Cumbersome...admit it...it's an SUV just like Mine....not supposed to Race thru corners but when U need the extra power of coz it can give it to u anytime, any place.....Originally posted by HENG@:orh haaa....... the Turbo R is 112k brand new. er EVO7 even 2nd hand also about 120 to 130k? wahaha, you beat me to it.. i love the cooper S too.. But the price is rather steep.. if you're not afraid of wrecking yr car? playing with corners? Basic car to improve yr driving skills?.. get a vti, esi.. do some serious engine mods.. Race at yr own risk..Originally posted by KLZW:if u wan to throw ur car into a corner at full speed, get a mini cooper s lar.. hahaha![]()
off road? dude unless u wanna rip the bodykit off the airtrek, its best to keep it on the black stuff only. that car is meant for driving corners, being similar to the EVO7 mechanically. in fact it even weighs the same too. both the Airtrek Turbo R n the EVO7 weight about 1500kg.Originally posted by zeus83:wahaha, you beat me to it.. i love the cooper S too.. I think that the airtrek is more of an off-road speed demon.. more suited for bumpy malaysian roads.. Throwing the suv round the corner is very contradicting... SUVs are meant for comfort, and performance..
you can't have comfort, little body rolls and perfect steering.. unless you own a mclaren, lambo, SLR, etc.
erm, nothing much to disagree, except the weight of an evo is about 100kg to 200kg or so lighter.. And an SUV is still an SUV, not a race car. the air trek's good on the straight, the 2nd best SUV around corners.. But it's not as good as most sports cars..Originally posted by HENG@:off road? dude unless u wanna rip the bodykit off the airtrek, its best to keep it on the black stuff only. that car is meant for driving corners, being similar to the EVO7 mechanically. in fact it even weighs the same too. both the Airtrek Turbo R n the EVO7 weight about 1500kg.
anyway i would never race a civic. too unstable in corners. modding the engine for a civic is a certain stupid way to die.
wanna improve your car control skills? get a kart. if u can handle a kart u can handle a car. u can handle a car dun mean u can handle a kart. i've had guys driving EVOs, WRXs, even ferraris, come to the track swaggering thinking they're good, until they get on track and suddenly find that karting is a whole new ballgame. nvm the embarressment. it gets worse when the 7 yr old kid(this really cute little boy who karts and races professionally already) then goes out and shows them how its done.
the only bad thing about racing the airtrek turbo r?Originally posted by zeus83:erm, nothing much to disagree, except the weight of an evo is about 100kg to 200kg or so lighter.. Erm, modding a vtec engine can be quite rewarding, if done well. There's some COE vti pulling 250hp in SG... Not bad when the most you'll spend is around 30k for the car and 10k to 20k for the mods... Lotsa smsa guys own civics..
karting is a fun way to startup driving and understanding corners, but the only thing i find a waste is that in carts you can't learn how to play with the gear system. so most move on to cars, except for a few die hards..
btw, i have nothing against the airtrek. it's a good balance between family comfort and racing..
