well.im no honda expert but their diff is power output,performance & tech specs as in their vtec specs N stages.
Worth buyin? for myself, SIR (manual). -

Sir - 1.6L 2-stage vtec -

Honda LSI : Lower horsepower of the 3 models. Not a VTEC engine. 1500cc SOHC (Single Cams) engine.
Honda ESI : Honda 2 Stage 1600cc VTEC SOHC Engine. Comsumption about 12km/Litre for manual (I drove this model before)
Honda VTI : Honda 2 Stage 1600cc VTEC DOHC (Twin Cams) Engine.
Production Year End 1995 to Early 2001

Honda EXI : Replace the previous model of LSI. 1500cc SOHC engine with a horsepower of 105BHP.
Honda VTI : Replace the previous model of ESI. 1500cc SOHC engine with a horsepower of 130BHP. Auto gear box came with economy, normal & sport mode. Fuel comsumption about 11-12km/Litre (I drive this model before)
Honda SIR : Replace the previous model of VTI. 1600cc DOHC engine with a horsepower of 155BHP for Auto & 170BHP for manual.
NB : I had drove 3 of the generation model for Honda. Namely 1991 Honda Civic 3dr 1.3GL(Manual) Modified, 1993 Honda Civic 4dr 1.6ESI(Manual) & 1996 Honda Civic 4dr 1.5VTI(Auto), If you need more info, you can drop me a mail at ray_mondsg@yahoo.com.sg, I will try to provides you any info that I know.

That comes in the 92-95 EG VTi and the 96-00 EK SiR.
Most EG VTis are renewed COE ones, but cost about $5k+ depreciation a year. Parts will probably be worn out tho unless previous owner really take care and replace all the necc (e.g air-con system, lower arms, power steering rack etc)
EK SiR depreciation nowadays is mebe $7-8k odd per year. But condition of course newer.
Just a couple of years back, the SiRs and EG Vtis depreciated $9k odd a year. Now considered relatively 'cheaper'
DOHC engines more stuff to modify if u are into it... the SOHCs are still good, but costly to extract power and some 'race' parts not from Japan/USA but Thailand instead.

overall, SiR would be the infamous boyracer civics u see plying the roads here. VTi is decent only.
Oh i know of a ridiculous air force regular who didn't want to let his ex-gf(my friend) drive his 00 spec VTi saying it was too powerful and he didn't think she can handle the power. ha!
128bhp is hardly anything to get excited about, esp considering the SiR's 170bhp. I really ought to give him a taste of 240bhp, except that my friend wants nothing more to do with him.

Saw some of ur postings, Airtrek Turbo eh? Casually tot of getting one for my next car (no money la, juz tink only ) but for tat price, mebe can top up some more get Evo 8 MR or mebe get a 2nd hand Evo7, Sti or S15? hmmm...
I'm sure the Airtrek Turbo R is powerful... any other 'advantages' or plus points, so to speak, about it? (Besides the fact its an SUV comparing to a sedan).. thanks!

orh haaa....... the Turbo R is 112k brand new. er EVO7 even 2nd hand also about 120 to 130k? S15 brand new is 130k but now a bit hard to find. i know theres someone offering a silva S14 for sale for 54k though, check out yahoo auctions singapore. Like tat the rest are not really in the price range... unless mebe 1 yr old STi (my fren bot 110k) or S15.
Good thing is that Airtrek Turbo also dun look too boyracer (all tho i see quite a lot getting fiercer and fiercer with the lowered gantong, bodykit and rear spoilers) and mebe can avoid TP/LTA's attention even with a couple of HKS 3037s inside..haha

sorry 120k is for my Ralliart edition with sun roof version. stock Turbo R is 112k, Ralliart Turbo R is 118k.

I think that the airtrek is more of an off-road speed demon.. more suited for bumpy malaysian roads.. Throwing the suv round the corner is very contradicting... SUVs are meant for comfort, and performance..

I think that the airtrek is more of an off-road speed demon.. more suited for bumpy malaysian roads.. Throwing the suv round the corner is very contradicting... SUVs are meant for comfort, and performance..

The Vti is a good car, powerful and fuel saving, so go for it if u have a choice.

erm, nothing much to disagree, except the weight of an evo is about 100kg to 200kg or so lighter.. And an SUV is still an SUV, not a race car. the air trek's good on the straight, the 2nd best SUV around corners.. Erm, modding a vtec engine can be quite rewarding, if done well. There's some COE vti pulling 250hp in SG... Not bad when the most you'll spend is around 30k for the car and 10k to 20k for the mods... Lotsa smsa guys own civics..

must b kidding me... it is so tall, doesnt have the evo's AYC, suffers from lack of steering feel, auto transmission only... etc etc.
ok so its got the evo's (detuned) engine and chassis (?) but i could slap a bus on a skyline's body but i wouldnt call it as good as a skyline.
its a family car lah, maybe your dad got it for u cos its big and u prolly wont **** yourself in an accident. -
250BHP on a civic? no pt....too much torque steer...even the Focus RS with 210BHP had torque steer....and it'll beat the civic

if u're tokin abt the 1st civics wif the large headlights then it should be EXi instead of ESi. my dad drove the VTi auto before the current one. he kinda regretted not spending 8k more on the SiR manual which came wif many extra plusses like significantly more horsepower, rims, leather seats, sunroof. basically dere were no big qualms abt the VTi. decent performance wif decent fuel economy. cvt transmission is smooth i muz say. guess he just din like the floating effect; hondas are said to be dangerously light.
