ya, brakes beli important also. but only if u make a big horsepower upgrade or go racing. under such conditions, ur brakes muz be able to handle the xtra punishment and still deliver consistent braking efficiency.

So the tofu 86 is yours. Seen you once near bouna vista MRT area. Your 86 is very well cared. May I ask if yours is a 5yr COE or 10yr COE? Becos recently I saw a red 86 and is reali interested but can only drive till 07 (5yrs COE). Hiaz, thought I can buy her and keep as a project car.

My car and the 3 others i know are all 10 yr COE cars. =) Spare parts hard to find locally, but if u got money...then spare parts not a problem. the 86 is so successful in japan that they are still rolling out new spare parts in Japan.
Things we cant find, we try to modify others. But personally i find rim the hardest to find...cos cant find these kind of offset anymore...so either buy from japan or go scrap yard find.
good luck to you. project car not really worth it lah...unless u can afford to tow it every where to race else in singapore..once a year at kallang...and some more sure lose wan lah...

The red colour 86 is a Levin. Not a Trueno. Owner or ex-owner renewed the COE for onli 5 yrs. I always prefer the 86 for its sublime balance, handling and FR - imho, it's not always about outright horsies.
my ideal of a budget project car is firstly, has to be rare. Then, to slowly restore it slowly by myself to new car condition, not to race. Have engine overhauled, port polish and blueprinted. make the 86 like a collector's car. Interior restored. Sometimes a lot of parts can be found on ebay.
Parts wise, is it possible for 86 owners 2 share and bring in half-cuts.? Cannablise for parts?
So before you sprayed the current b&w colour scheme, were there any rust spots to take care of? My past experience with old cars are once rust starts its very hard to eliminate. spreads like a diease.

6 years ago 2 of my friens use to drive Levins.
now both cars are in Car-heaven.
Its a great car to be frank, NA, FR and its light
but before "playing" with it, gota be sure that the car can support the "torture".
friend used to play in carparks doing all sorts of sideways/drift/fishtails though not 100% perfect, its still a beauty to watch the car go sideways.
That period was a torture to me, they kept pestering me for parts (i got contact from Japan), almost every 5month i bring in stuffs for their dears, from arms/struts/rims/gear ratio/LSD.....etc
the money spent was..... sufficient for me to support a new car.
After all the torturing.... they finally scrap the car togather with the parts. Believe they still have some good stuffs left for the car.

RS watanabe 14" rims $1K (1st hand cost $2.1k include shipping)
Visor for Levin/Trueno $380 (2 piece chrome visors)

hi..=) yah...that is correct..if he possess a levin he can change a chasis imported from japan...heh...but in the first place..he have to have one. Eh Jiayong, kinda OT but missed seeing you again on the 22nd, Thu. Was in NTU again and saw ur car parked in the SRC. I think you were having exams? Wanted to go and put a note on your wiper but scared got pple think i going to scratch your car and come beat me up...

is there a differene in the TRD chasis and the original chasis?
i know of one person that has done it before. Can pm me for more details. but chasis is old...not new. -
NICE!!!! AE86 althought is a old car but seems to me last time things being make are more reliable my fan use of 20++ years still working good while now new one only few months spoil sianz....
Older cars metal are harder than presents ones....some lah not all......
one of my campmates brother drives a 86 levin....lives at jurong....have not seat before lah but heard my campamte say reaching top speed very fast....
now inital D ....Project D.. takumi and the gang got three van follow them to racing places....power mobile workshop..
just saw two epsiode of the new Project D....best cant wait for more...
