Clap Clap? I think you should read up my post before you try to post witty comments like that. I mentioned the Evo 8 has a power output around the 300 horsepower mark - Not 280ps (276hp) that you claim i said. I do know for a fact about the Gentlemans agreement in Japan and very much disgard it as i have personally witnessed dyno readings of a 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R back in Melbourne newly imported, posting in excess of 310 HP in stock guise.Originally posted by dansplace:*clap* *clap* *clap* - you are assuming that the manufacturers' claim are accurate. The Japs, based on gentlemen's agreement, have decided to limit the 4WD sedans to a max of 280ps. Like I said, based on the dyno results, I think the evo in its stock form will give the M3 a good run.
hmm to make it easier on ya, its the one in UK which is supposedly detuned to 260bhp "only"Originally posted by dansplace:I read a little on the earlier FQs but gave up after they kept coming up with different versions. sorry, I am of little help....
I know, but I am not sure if they "left"out any other functions compared to the JDM specs, thats what I mean... so no comments,Originally posted by HENG@:hmm to make it easier on ya, its the one in UK which is supposedly detuned to 260bhp "only"

Mitsubishi does not go as far as the Skyline in terms of sheer output because, as i mentioned before, of reliability and service compromises assocated with a highly tuned four-cylinder engine (the Mitsubishi already requires very short 3000-4000 mile service intervals in stock form).
If you read my post even further, you would have seen valid justification through facts for what i am saying. The Mitsubishi DOES have a lower output than the E46 M3 (which is as i mentioned previously again 332 bhp). It DOES have a higher drag cofficent (0.35 as compared to 0.32) and a larger frontal area, contributing to lower performance in the high-end range. It DOES have permanent variable 4WD, and thus higher resistance and drag for all wheels being driven as opposed to the E46 which is rear wheel drive. These all add up to the M3, in a straght line as i mentioned, being the quicker of the two in terms of 'rolling' acceleration past 100 km/h.
ok...Originally posted by LittleTiger:I agree with Ali_Khl. 4WD top end speed are lower than 2WD as extra power or resistence are needed to pull or block it from going faster in high speed. Purpose of 4WD is to have more traction like in rallying where the ground is slippery.
Evo 4 already managed to hit 280hp with Evo 1 at 250hp and increment of 10 hp per version. So Evo 8 shall have or be able to hit 310 ~320hp. Evo 8 torgue already 289lbft instead of 261lbft of Evo 4.
Evo8 pickup 0~100km/h on stat wins to M3 on a mere 0.2s cos it has the pulling turbo and 4WD.
But 0 ~ 200km/h M3 wins as its the .cc, torgue and others count on high speed. Dont forget the wings of Evo is to push it back down(stable cornering) and this slow cars down just like F1 cars.
I agree with you only if the real world consists of driving at 180+ km/h in a straight line all the time... in which case there are much, much faster cars than both the Evo and M3. The Evo on the other hand, is an ideal compromise between power and practicality. The ultimate everyman car that can show up exotics given the right driver and road conditions.Originally posted by Ali_Khl:Clap Clap? Actually I think despite us keeping one car (or more) length away from ANY car - its going to be considered tailgating.... *whisper* they actually want to think that we are tailgating them so as to make themselves feel good *Whisper* hehehehOriginally posted by crufty:I agree with you only if the real world consists of driving at 180+ km/h in a straight line all the time... in which case there are much, much faster cars than both the Evo and M3.
