According to dyno, the evos should not have a prob is overtaking the M3... the spec indicated on mitsu's sheet is fudged big time! hahahah....Originally posted by HENG@:muahahaha u all damn farnie.![]()
anyhows, whats your opinion of the lower specced FQ260?Originally posted by dansplace:According to dyno, the evos should not have a prob is overtaking the M3... the spec indicated on mitsu's sheet is fudged big time! hahahah....
hmm ok I will. compared to say, and older EVO 5 or 6? I do have such a soft spot for the 5s and 6s.Originally posted by Ali_Khl:Heng, the European specification Mitsubishi Evo 8 (known there as the FQ260) is a very competitive car for the money - you will get much more performance per pound compared to a similar WRX or VW Golf R32, as well as a still powerful 260ps turbocharged engine and point to point speed that is 90% of a Japanese Evolution 8 MR.
Give it a test drive one of these days and feed back to us!![]()
so u also drive Evo 8 lah...Originally posted by dansplace:I got tailgated by an evo8 too on Thursday night... but he was being tailgated by another evo8... then again I was tailgating an evo8 too... convoy driving is such a pain...

About the Mitsubishi Evolution 8 overtaking a BMW E46 M3 at speed - Not as easy as you claim. The Evo uses a highly-strung turbo 2.0 litre, which although has power output in the 300hp range and a high torque figure of approximatly 380 Newton Metres. It also hosts 4WD, a feature that (when combined with high-revolution clutch-balacing) helps it attain a 0-100 km/h time in the high four second range. But if we look more closely at its top end permance, past the point where the traction advantage is cancelled out, then we see that although it is a very quick car on its own it cannot quite match an M3 in straight-line speed at least.
The Evo 8 is primarly a road-going rally homoligation special, and because of its 'boxy' shape compared to the M3 and the front splitter/ rear spoiler combination and other downforce-producing components, the car is limited in its top end (ie above 100 km/h) acceleration. Its four-wheel drive drivetrain also induces road drag and higher rolling resistance as the front wheels are turning as well as the rear.
The E46 M3 features not only more Horsepower (332), but also a lower aerodynamic drag coefficent (0.32) as well as much more top-end power (The M3's powerband stretches to 8200 rpm, with maximum HP in the 7500 range).
Oh and its Lamborghini, not Lambourghini
and go try the FQ400Originally posted by HENG@:hmm ok I will. compared to say, and older EVO 5 or 6? I do have such a soft spot for the 5s and 6s.

i'm pretty intrigued by that racing stunt you put up with that civic driver that time.
just thought that a civic is a reasonably fast car with gd pick up and acceleratioin, so, just wondering what car you drive lor~

the EVO8 MR is fast fast fast. In its stock form, it is faster than the stock M3 often at trackdays.Originally posted by dansplace:*clap* *clap* *clap* - you are assuming that the manufacturers' claim are accurate. bro, we recently dyno-ed stock E8 GSR and E8 MR GSR - the under-declared power is nuts... hahaha...Originally posted by HENG@:the EVO8 MR is fast fast fast. In its stock form, it is faster than the stock M3 often at trackdays.
