Thirsty animals get a much-needed drink of water from humans... humans should better appreciate that unlike animals in the wild struggling to survive where clean water or edible food is often scarce, humans can conveniently just drop by a Macs or 7-11 for a drink or a snack. Humans by and large don't appreciate what they have, and waste their lives away without making the world a better place.

On 16 October last year, Gan approached Lee at his pasar malam stall outside Tanjong Pagar Plaza at around 4.30pm to buy a pair of spectacles. He told Lee that he wanted to remove the lenses to check them. However, Lee told him that he had to buy the pair of spectacles before he could dismantle them, which upset Gan.
The two got into a scuffle after Gan punched Lee on his chest. Lee later called the police and asked Gan to go away. Gan threatened to bring his friends to beat Lee up.
After a while, Gan left and returned with a chopper. He swung the chopper down on Lee’s table several times, scaring Lee and his customers. Gan dared Lee to come out of his stall if he had the guts, threatening to chop him.
Lee tried to place a metal pole at the entrance of the makeshift stall to prevent Gan from entering and called for the police again.
Gan was later arrested near the pasar malam.
In mitigation, Gan said that his daughter was still young and that he wanted to spend Chinese New Year with his family.

[Singapore] - It's not the distance that will kill you. It's the sleep deprivation. Unless you're an ultra-fit special forces commando in your prime, and you've a compellingly good reason to do so (eg. to advance your military career and/or protect your country against enemies), doing long-distance treks *without* proper rest and sleep, will certainly do more harm than good, and significantly increases your risk of dropping dead from a heart attack or a stroke.

[Pakistan] - Rapist-murderer raped and murdered at least 8 little girls with average age of 6 years old
It was only after the shock over Zainab that news emerged of other children abducted and raped in Kasur. Amid the uproar, police did testing on the victims and found the same DNA on eight of the children, all but one of whom was killed. Police now say they are hunting for a serial rapist-killer.
On Tuesday, authorities announced the arrest of a suspect in Zainab's killing. The spokesman for the Punjab provincial government, Malik Ahmed Khan, identified the suspect as Mohammed Imran and said he was arrested near Kasur.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the same suspect is linked to the deaths of the eight other children. After the announcement, Zainab's father demanded in an interview with a local television that the culprit be hanged.
Among the eight victims was 5-year-old Ayesha. Her father, Mohammed Asif, said he pleaded with the police to find her after her abduction last year.
"They had no interest. They were more interested in keeping it quiet," he told The Associated Press. Her body, showing signs of rape and torture, was found two days after her disappearance.
The sole survivor among the eight was a 6-year-old girl found by a homeless man rummaging through a garbage bin outside a vegetable market. She had been kidnapped for 15 hours, during which she was tortured. Cigarettes were put out on her feet and legs, and she suffered a serious head injury. Now at a hospital in the nearby city of Lahore, she can't sit, hold up her head or speak, and her father Mohammad Ahsan, says all she does is cry.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The oldest of the 13 California siblings who authorities said were imprisoned by their parents was frail, smelly and picked on as a grade school student in Texas, one of her classmates said in a heart-wrenching Facebook post.
The now-29-year-old woman was rescued with her starving brothers and sisters from their home in Perris, California, on Jan. 14. Neighbors and relatives said they were unaware of the children's treatment until authorities arrested the parents and revealed what they found inside.
Taha Muntajibuddin attended kindergarten through third grade with her in Fort Worth, Texas. After learning of the case, he shared on Facebook his "overwhelming sense of guilt and shame" over how she was treated.
Muntajibuddin, a pediatrics resident doctor in Houston who confirmed his post to The Associated Press, described her as "a frail girl, had pin-straight hair with bangs, and often wore the same purple outfit."
He wrote that it was jarring to learn that the girl, who was teased in school for being smelly, was actually because she "quite literally had to sit in her own waste at home because she was chained to her bed."
"It is nothing but sobering to know that the person who sat across from you at the lunch table went home to squalor and filth while you went home to a warm meal and a bedtime story," he wrote.
