evaporated milk more fattening than condensed milk?Originally posted by Gazelle:SCM are poor man's creamer. in some poor countries, they even feed SCM to babies. SCM are good if you dont have a chiller because SCM itself will not turn bad even you leave it in the open for weeks and months. You only have to prevent ants from coming.
EVAP on the other hand, is very sensitve and it requires retorting and sterlization during the canning process. Unlike SCM, once you open up a can of EVAP, you will have to keep it in the fridge and consume it within a week or so.
Which one if better? I usually mixed them together when I drink my coffee in the morning. but becareful, EVAP milk are very fattening.
Got time now go and use yahoo!.sgOriginally posted by kalangkabo:never read newspaper...

condensed = milk powder, sugar and edible oilOriginally posted by kalangkabo:oi... dun try to confuse me ok!!!
i'm confused enough already
see
evaporated milk = milk - water (though some process)
condensed milk = milk - water (through some other process) + SUGAR!!!
so condensed milk should be more fattening wat?
Originally posted by Gazelle:condensed = milk powder, sugar and edible oil
EVAP = water, milk powder, milk solid / fat
and the amount of EVAP milk used in drink is usually more than the condensed milk. thats why EVAP cans are always bigger than SCM.Originally posted by Wanda:![]()
How fattening the milk is, relates to the amount of fat (not just sugar) it contains. While sugar plays a part in adding more calories, sugar is a carbo which is about 4.3 calories per gram (?), while fat contains about 9 calories per gram.
So, weight by weight, 100g of butter x 9 cal = 900 cal, while 100g of sugar contains about 430 cal. That's why ppl say butter is more fattening than sugar.
before you ask that question, you might want to ask where to find unsweetened condensed milk.Originally posted by kalangkabo:what about LF unsweetened condensed milk VS LF evaporated milk?
