I tried d Ah mei @ Bishan d other day 4 breakfast.... My hubby ordered 4 pcs of d kaya toast just for me & he never help me 2 eat.....end up i hve 2 finish all...... Cannot waste food mah.....My mum favourite saying.....next time no food 2 eat then u noe......!!! -

Ah Mei has a new branch at AMK, near the hawker ctr under Banquet foodcourt.
I bought the "home-made" kaya....not bad leh. The tea and coffee also come in cups as big as soup bowls (90 cts nia). The teh-C is a bit too strong on the tea though....better order "teh C pok". -

The best one around was at the coffeeshop opposite Novena square. Quite well known. Thin.crispy. Juz enough butter n kaya
. People were lining up 4 it daily. Too bad the shop taken over by kopitiam le -
Not sure if any of the bread lovers is aware....
there is a new outlet in Tangs Market (CK Tangs basement) named Heads or Tails, selling a new type of Kaya toast. Unlike the traditional local Kaya, they have 3 different flavours of Kaya (Yam, Vanilla, Pandan) on thick toasts. Awesome stuff...I read it from 8 days last Tues on page 78 and the review was particularly good. Apparently its a franchise from Bangkok and they have many other different flavours apart from Kaya. Tried Chilli paste with Chicken floss ...not spicy...and yet tasty.... definite must try!!!

Its been around for over 30 yrs and its still very good... They don't have branches as what we know nowadays with these kaya chain franchise...
Its probably one of the Original Kaya coffee shop in Sg. The same old man has been working there since it started so its still very traditional over there. Fresh made kaya on the spot not those you get from the franchise shops where it is pack ready for take away. If you are a Kaya lover, you have to try it.
Its along East cost road. Next to the Katong Holy Family Church. But its close on monday or tue and it opens till around 5pm only i think.

U know when u dip kaya toast into ur coffee or tea?
The 'grain' of the bread is actually very important...
if u dip the bread in with the grain 'perpendicular' to the drink... it doesnt soak as well and have tendency to break into the tea and coffee and end up soggy...
So better to dip it... grain parallel to side of coffee cup... it holds the liquid better.. and u can suck the coffee and tea.. and bread won't break
