thats very true ! try cooking italian food for 2 italian chefs ! i had that for one of my exams..Originally posted by vito_corleone:there's actually no such thing as italian food. people from the south will not touch northern food like risotto and vice versa. italians are ultra conversative when it comes to food..everything outside their hometown tastes bad and to them their mothers are the best cooks![]()

been there. but unless your father's bill gates you can't possibly fly over whenever you have a craving for something innitOriginally posted by singaporesodapop:The best place to go for Italian is...ITALY! Go figure!
Haha--sorry, I couldn't resist.
Do you think that the Italian food will be 100% genuinely Italian? I would think that it would be more "Asianized Italian food," just like the "Americanized" Chinese food in Michigan.
Gross.
watch david rocco's dolce vita if you really want "italian" or if you don't mind a mix then jamie oliver's good.Originally posted by Mumbo Jumbo:Which is what im doing! But reality and theory very diff, so I need to see how its truly done, instead of just from cookbooks. Pamper myself once in a while la, haha, birthday was just a while ago.
Also stuff like charcoal grills or roasters are just so not HDB.
Do you cook your own italian? Maybe you could teach me!
The beauty of italian food is that it is so diverse and has so many regional variations.
jamie's the goofier one with the funnier antics. rocco..i hate his accent its somewhat "pseudo-american" to some extent. and it isnt as fun watching him cook..he's like keith floyd..more "reserved"..and gosh they should take floyd off the air, he's like the worst chef on DTL..super messy food anyhow mix here and there, everything's a stew in some way and he keeps repeating the same damned phrases "my latest chum", "absolutely delicious"Originally posted by Mumbo Jumbo:I love dave rocco's! Damn nice! But his goofing around is sometimes quite corny, and a waste of time when we could be learning more dishes.
Jamie Oliver's italian escape is great. We can really see the italians passion for food, and analyse their tastes, esp when they trash jamie for being different.
Rocco was an italian brought up in Canada, if I'm not wrong. I also dislike floyd, his food really looks unappealing.Originally posted by vito_corleone:jamie's the goofier one with the funnier antics. rocco..i hate his accent its somewhat "pseudo-american" to some extent. and it isnt as fun watching him cook..he's like keith floyd..more "reserved"..and gosh they should take floyd off the air, he's like the worst chef on DTL..super messy food anyhow mix here and there, everything's a stew in some way and he keeps repeating the same damned phrases "my latest chum", "absolutely delicious"![]()

One nice little cosy place at Princep Street. Budget: about $70 for my husband and me, no wine. But great food, no regrets. It made me feel like I am back in Europe.Originally posted by Mumbo Jumbo:I recently passed by a few italian restaurants and took a look at their menus. Most were disappointing, offering americanized italian fare rebounded into Singapore.
Do you guys know where to get the most authentic tasting italian (other than having an italian roomate/friend/uncle/grandma)?

You can even choose to have an italian set dinner that's not on the menu and entirely based on the whims of the chef.
