She got the franchise from Singapore and went to Taiwan to set up sounds more probable. You can't just go overseas and use the same distinctive name of a company, especially when the owner of the franchise is a lawyer.Originally posted by zocoss:I belief she learned from a lady in singapore then go over to open her shop in Taiwan.
I remember there was a lady that make very good chocolate cakes somewhere in Bukit Timah area, somewhere near the old race course. Its inside one of the lanes, not sure exactly where liao. I think its called Lana... make very good chocolate cakes but always must place order in advance...
Well, did she get the franchise or not i am not sure but maybe she did... who knows... All i know is this Lady should be quite old by now, i am told that 20yrs ago during the 80's she was already selling. I am not aware if she has ever expand her business, i only know one at 6th Ave, Bukit Timah area only... Since i never buy from her in person other relatives bought... Some people post branches at Katong Mall, so is the Lana i am referring to is the same as awfully Chocolate?Originally posted by DummiesInc:She got the franchise from Singapore and went to Taiwan to set up sounds more probable. Lana Cake has only one outlet which is located near Watten Park in Bukit Timah. Owner of that shop is Violet Oon. I have no idea whether there is a branch in 6th Avenue or it could just be another different cake shop.Originally posted by zocoss:Well, did she get the franchise or not i am not sure but maybe she did... who knows... Anyway, like i said... she is a old lady already so maybe she thought that it was time to pick up a student to pass her knowledge down...
What do you mean use the same distinctive name of a company? was she using the same name, is the one in sin the same name?
And i don't know who started the idea that the lady is a lawyer...
Oh... ok. So they are not related. Thanks for the info... and i was thinking of going to Katong Mall to get a Lena cake. Now so far how to buy? sigh....Originally posted by JLennon:Lana Cake has only one outlet which is located near Watten Park in Bukit Timah. Owner of that shop is Violet Oon. Awfully Chocolate is another cake shop which was started by an ex-lawyer (from Rajah and Tann) and they have an outlet along Joo Chiat Road.
As for this Stella Ng, she could either have obtained a franchise from Awfully Chocolate or she is trying to pass off Awfully Chocolate as her own in Taiwan.
As far as I am aware, there is only one Lana Cake and it is not located in 6th Avenue.Originally posted by zocoss:I am rather confuse, maybe someone can clear this up... Is the Lana at Bukit timah, 6th ave area related to the Awfully chocolate cake shops?
I have checked and the owner of Lana cake is not Violet Oon as you have mentioned, it a much older lady & its at 6th ave.Originally posted by JLennon:Lana Cake has only one outlet which is located near Watten Park in Bukit Timah. Owner of that shop is Violet Oon.
Awfully Chocolate and Lana are not related.

Yeah i think it could be this... Though i am not sure where exactly is the shop, but i recalled there was a furniture shop there quite like Ikea kind called Actus or something like that around the area.Originally posted by JLennon:Ooops, my bad. Should be Violet Kwan, not Violet Oon....
Maybe the shop has moved? I have no idea what cake shop there is in 6th Ave. The Lana cake that I have been patronising is in Greenwood Avenue.
