  Wat was previously said about using Baking Soda is true. U get the crispiness, like when making cookies, u add Baking Soda so the cookies become crispy.
  Baking Powder is for making cakes, it helps the cake to rise. No, it won't make your goreng pisang crispy.
  In the olden times...ppl add some kapor or chalk. The ones that the Indian community use to put into a kind of green leaf and some shavings of beetle nut, plus some other stuff to make it red. They then chew it.

  No Baking Soda(NaHCO3) is not baking powder, it is the one of the ingredient of baking powder.
