The Malaysian Chinese food scenes still retain a bit of the old world charm, back here it's getting rare.

I think it's the effort put into the cooking. In Sin high cost so must be fast. Certainly the passion of cooking have been compromised.
MSG or Ajinomoto is omnipresent in hawker food everywhere.![]()

Back then Singapore has roundabouts instead of cross junction and less traffic lights.
Omnipresent, hahaha, what a word to describe it.
A little MSG is fine but not too much. There are hawker food without MSG but it is rare.

You can always stop her from adding MSG. I cook at home without adding MSG and food tastes good.

MSG uses in minute quantity have some fantastic effect.
Unfortunately, it's often abused.![]()
According to a health and fitness magazine the amount of MSG intake on a body has influence on the brain into thinking whether the food is tasty or not.So if your diet is low on Msg and mine is high the food still taste the same for both of us until Chewbaca taste them and will be quick to spot the difference.

The more I read all the posting here the more I realised I dont know nuts about Yong Tau Fu>LOL
In People's Park, there is another Yong Tau Fu stall 高记 which is also good.
There is a Yong Tau Fu stall in the Jurong East Central Coffeeshop which is very good. The yong tau fu and other items are always very fresh and the stall owners will also fry them upon request (for those like me who like their tau fu, 油 stuffed with fish paste to be fried).
Too bad the stall has moved and if anyone knows where it has moved, please let me know where it has moved. I missed their 油 stuffed with fish paste. Thanks.

Msg is just an extract from starch or flour with salt and sugar through fermentation process. It can also occur naturally in certain plants such as tomato, carbo rich fruits and vegetables. Msg can also be produced when cooking with salt, starchy food and sugar.
