I personally dun eat sashimi. But why is this cruel if you eat Sashimi? Just because you can see the eyes or head or whatever? No offence, but sometimes I find people who tell me about cruelty to animals...i am like...then WTF are you eating animals? And what makes you think that Carrots or Celeries do not have feelings?
Nvm off topic. HAHA
Coz the fish is still living and suffering slowly.
Do you eat mutton, chicken, fish, duck whatever? Have you seen how they were killed? How do you justify whether the way they are being killed is humane or cruel? I eat everything (ok not everything, i cant really stand raw stuff like sashimi or oysters) and sometimes I hate the hypocrisy of it all. Eating sashimi is fine. But Eating sashimi on a plate with the fish head and SEEING it still living is cruelty? I dun understand.

How would you like someone to eat you slowly piece by piece while you die of agony?
I'm fine with killing animals before we eat them....but I'm definitely against torturing them by chewing on their flesh right before their eyes.

What i mean, when the next time you eat sashimi, have you thought that the flesh is also cut off from a fish that is alive? thats what they do with Sashimi in some places? But just because they do that in the kitchen without you seeing it, that is fine and not cruel?

Really?
Some places maybe...but I'm sure not all.....
i'd rather they kill the fish before cutting it into pieces?
in this case
they are already slicing pieces of flesh off the fish while it's still breathing leh
still not cruel meh

seriously i have no issues with people who advocates movements against animal cruelty and I for one is against killing animals inhumanely for the sake of eating them. But before we protest against all these things, think about do we really understand what we are protesting about. The next time you eat a chicken, think about how its head was cut off while it was still alive and blood drained off: is that cruelty? If yes, why no protest against chicken cruelty? The next time you eat a crab, think about how a chopstick was cruelly pierced into it so it will slowly die. Is that cruelty? If yes, why no protest against crab cruelty?
My point was not to say that we should not be aware of such issues but most of the time from what I see, people are just jumping on bandwagons without understanding and really emphatizing with the issue.
I have seen worse stuffs in china....
The fish was deep fried.. However, to prove that the fish is still fresh, they cooked it in such a way that only the parts below the head are fried...
Can still see the eyes of the fish 'moving' while those people are enjoying the fresh fish. Which one is more cruel?
For this thread I'll choose 1.

I am not going to start one
cos again no offences, I find those animal cruelty centres or organisations a waste of my time and most probably have other agendas on their list other than really preventing animal cruelty. I eat everything I want to eat and I am not going to care how it came about.![]()

Yeah it is supposed to but in actual fact, after you do that, although everybody claims it has already died, you still see it moving for some time, so interpret how you want to interpret it. Is that cruelty? If that picture above is cruel, then killing a crab that way is cruel too. Those people who protest against such things cannot just choose their battles. All animals are equal.

at least u are honest about it. I am irritated by those who eat meat their whole life then suddenly when they see a chicken being killed, they go "oh so cruel", then continue eating the chicken chop.
