sorry hor, jay chow already outshine all chinese male singer now.Originally posted by Archilles:Ok. Let have a scenerio. Which current new artistes do U think can still be popular like Andy Lau or Jacky Cheung or 10 years later as in now. Jay Chou? SHE?
Not very sure whether I overestimate. Just know that Jacky albums keep on topping the music charts everywhere n Andy has wipe out all the male artistes awards in almost all award ceremonies in HK.Originally posted by kingofbeholder:sorry hor, jay chow already outshine all chinese male singer now.
*im not jay fan.
maybe u overestimate the popular of andy and jacky.
Thats why I ask for a prediction which singers can still make it 10 years later?Originally posted by Looking 4 Trouble:Archilles, then I would return to you to same exact words. Who do you think would be losing popularity by 2010? This unpredictable outcome is subjective on our perspectives and has no bearing on the future at all. I would love to comment that my dad always believed Andy Lau would not be famous for long. Unfortunately for my dad, Andy Lau is still in the circle and my father has long come to terms with that.

that of-cosOriginally posted by Archilles:Ok. Perhaps I need to accept the fact that Stephanie Sun and Jay Chou are the more popular singers and some current singers are also good such as David Tao. But really on the whole old songs are more "nei ting" Than the new ones.
Haha.....Think U really looking for troubleOriginally posted by Looking 4 Trouble:Archilles, different perspective and taste. Believe me, the teenagers would tell you otherwise about those songs in the 90s and 80s. And that your parents would insist their 50s and 60s songs are better.

sorry if u did listen to Jacky Cheung new concert cd " Huo Chu Sheng Ming Live Yan Chang Hui " he did sing a jay chou "Xing Qing" its nicer than how jay sing lo.. inside that cd he sing alot of other people song.. like ai heng jian dan etc... very good.. go buy it !! i think Jacky Cheung is the greatest chinese singer ever alive.. his voice damn ho !! why dun u ask jay sing jacky cheung song.. see nice bo.. i doubt so... Jacky Cheung is the shi li pai ge shou !! having sing abt 20 years.. hes still as great man..Originally posted by dibilo:its just that times have changed and so does the style of songs. u cant say that they have no quality now. they are just trying to tailor their songs to cater to the market. ask jacky cheung sing a jay chou and u'll see how crappy it will sound.
Yes I can say that 50s and 60s music are not my taste. But 70s music such as BeeGees, Carpenters, Abbas are still nice. Correct its personal preference. But I am emphasising now is that older songs are still "nei ting" n more shi li. Don't believe ask those who attended Jay Chou concert recently here. I really can't understand what he is singing. Think 3/4 he is mumbling there.Originally posted by Looking 4 Trouble:Archilles, would you then agree with that the 50s and 60s songs are much better then? I think you won't make a good goalkeeper. Obviously, you 'catch no ball' what I am implying.

hmm did u bought some of his old concert vcd . the 1991 concert.. its solid !! to add in, 1999 concert and 2002 music odyssey is great also !!Originally posted by Archilles:I must agree. I also bought that album. Some of the songs he sing even better than the original singers.![]()
Hey cool down, dun create a war here. Like what you say, its personal preference. Yes, perhaps U consider Andy Lau is not 1 of the singing greats, his songs is the same from last time till now. But there are a lot who still like his songs and he is still "yi li bu dao", sweeping all the male awards in HK last year.Originally posted by Looking 4 Trouble:That is Jay Chou only. Are you telling me you had listened to every new track possible, attended every concert of the new artistes? Apparently, I never considered Andy Lau one of the singing greats. I would prefer Alan Tam anytime to Andy Lau. You never tried and heard everything in this world, 2000s isn't over yet, so don't start lamenting.

Originally posted by Looking 4 Trouble:Archilles, I'm not angry. I'm sad. Look at my signature please? The second sentence is the one I'm asking you to look at. Repeat after me now, "Different taste for different people". Ask any kids now, who they prefer, Jolin Tsai or Faye Wong. Ask them if they prefer Twins to Sammi Cheng. Let them hear Faye's and Sammi's songs and ask them again. See what they say. Trust me, they will say they still prefer Jolin Tsai. Don't ask me why now, don't. I don't like Jolin Tsai. Now read this entire paragraph again from the start and do everyone a favour. You know why Jolin Tsai is pop princess? I know why. She appeals to the kids. I admit I'm outdated. Thank you for reading.
Yes definitely. Its popularity that counts. But as compared to "shi li" I think Jolin Tsai still loses to Sandy Lam, Sally Yeh. That why I say. Packaging is everything now. Imagine every record companies trying to throw in all sorts of freebies when U buy CD. Buying CD now is unlike in the past whereby U know in the past Jacky Cheung n the rest is quality assured. U don't need all these freebies to attract consumers.
