ali, ben and jialu have $1050 altogether
ali and ben have an equal amount of money
if both give jialu $50 each
jialu will have 5 times as much money as each of them
how much does ben and jialu have at 1st?
Anyone can solve them?? I cant get the ans... Lol... -

after the giving money, you just draw the model loh.. jialu has 5 units, the other two 1 unit each mah. so one unit = 1050 / 7 = 150. so ben has 150+50 (before giving jialu the money) = $200. Jialu has 5 units*150-100 (given by the other two) =$650 at first loh.

=> a + a + j = $1050
2a + j = $1050
j = $1050 - 2a
j + $50 + $50 = 5(a - $50)
j + $100 = 5a - $250
j = 5a - $350
$1050 - 2a = 5a - $350
7a = $1400
a = $200
b = $200 j = $650 -

The p5 way is to draw model.
The ideal way is everyone is happy with equal amounts.
The realistic way is no idiot would give money to another so he can equal another. -

i dunno why they teach that in pri sch....and intro algebra oni much later...... -
i learnt algebra in pri 3-4 way way before everyone else.
coz that time i lazy always dun wanna do my work, then my father do for me, then from there i learnt algebra

yah.. sometimes when i teach primary school maths, i forgot how to teach them using models, then teach them the algebra method. then they look so blur, then i will realise i taught them something they don't know. lolz...

i frequently get "Good" remarks..but is all my dad do 1..copied wholesale without know wht the hell was going on..slowly realised algebra frm there -
