You have only a diploma, I have only a degree. You may have A1 for your O level English ( but I reserve the right to be sceptical about that), but so what? I knwo there are others who are much more qualified in English than you here, and they are chinese, but non-racist, so you have no right to say that we are all the same.

never knew the Poly requirements have been changed since when. I did poly in the early 1990s. -
Some courses, especially Engineering based courses, are more on calculation and technical basis, which requires more on the Mathematics, therefore they tend to have higher requirement for Mathematics. On the other hand, they used less on the language wise, thus they have D7 minimum requirement as for English.
Meanwhile, Business courses, be it Business Mgmt., Accountany, Finance as well as Mass Com. courses, they have higher usage of English language ( to write reports, do presentation, specific terms ), therefore, they require students to have a better conduct of English language. -

eleven years ago, i entered a technology course in SP and the min entry is D7, in fact only courses like biz ad(c6) and mass comms(ngee ann b4) had higher standards for english.
i still have my copy of the prospectus for 93/94 academic year to prove you wrong. -
