The problem here is the utter refusal by the Jap righties to admit their faults. One mistake of the US was to allow the royal family to continue as constitutional monarchs. The royals under Hirohito sided with the militarists (led by Hideki Tojo) and sanctioned the colonisation of Taiwan, Korea and the Pacific War.Originally posted by CenturionMBT:but seriously, if they denied that they invaded south east asia, should we get angry? or should we just sit back and let the politicians do the work?
I just discovered a generation gap between me and my parents. i find that ww2 was a very far away and distant event. I always believed in leting bygones be bygones. But to my parents, the fact that the japs denied that the rape of nanking happened, it shows that it is not remorsefeul and hence, we should not readily forget about it so easily.
To many PRC people in china , they have a similar kind of sentiment. They feel that they should not forgive or forget. But itsn't such general hatred and nationalistic pride the cause of wars in the past centuries the first place?
Should we let sleeping dogs lie? or should we face the problem head to head?
I don't want to hate them, nor do i want to fully embrace them either. If given the chance i just want everybody to put down their difference peacefully. Rather kind of naive thought here though.
Which Korea? The northern one or southern one?Originally posted by boy in blues:do not boycott or stop travel to japan
a combined korea, china and all countries affected by japan in WW2 should grow in military power so as to conquer japan as soon as possible. after that split the loot
do not allow japan to apologise and compensate for war crimes. once timing is ripe, provoke japan to use a bit of military power in claiming korean or chinese disputed island territories.
after which a combined korea and china launch an all-out attack on japan. the excuse to justify such a move, is that korea and china felt threatened by that japanese move which can be perceived in some ways convincingly as the start of an invasion. once korea and china starts the war rolling, japan retaliates and the war snowballs and we can all have momentum to move on from there
every non-jap asian has a moral obligation to ensure that no single jap is left living. as far as possible, before killing, 1st the males must be tortured and females raped. this pre-death suffering should last as long as situation permits
hope this happens as soon as possible. lets work towards it
Er, but Taiwan is not a recognised sovereign entity, no thanks to the Maoists who rule Beijing and strike fear into the hearts of Americans.Originally posted by boy in blues:the more the merrier. taiwan also invited. the loot may have to be divided more, but the time and casualty per country investment becomes reduced
thats why i refuse to take sides for the china japan issue. Both countries want a regional prosperity. Both want a win win situation. But are they working towards it? One refusing to admit the mistakes of its past, and another which refuse to let go of its past.Perhaps the word forgive and forget can't be used when in comes to country vs country relationships. But i would really wish that both sides will come clean one day. Is the words "sorry' and "i forgive' that difficult? So what do they want? another military conflict that will probably kill more innocents than the ones who started it all the first place?Originally posted by iveco:The problem here is the utter refusal by the Jap righties to admit their faults. If you were to look at Germany, the fact that it was partitioned between the Allies and Soviets for more than 40 years and the restoration of democracy allowed (West) Germany to engage in meaningful dialogue with France, Holland and other neighbours affected directly by WW2. The US didn't want a communist party in Japan, so they allowed the royals to stay on. Contrast this with Italy, where the family of Victor Immanuel was exiled for their role in Benito Mussolini's rise.
The old order in Europe made way for a different order, one that was committed to regional peace and shared prosperity, hence we have the EU. Germany and Italy are able to have cordial ties with their neighbours because they have leaders who do not want to repeat the mistakes of the past and have another round of immense suffering. Japan does not seem to have learned its lesson, on the ohter hand.
then that makes us no different from ww2 japan.Originally posted by boy in blues:different parties choose to perceive fact in any way that befits their interests
a more influential china combined with taiwan will strike even more fear into the hearts of all who wishes to subdue chinese expansion
there are very many overseas ethnic chinese regardless of nationality. all of them without exception, will benefit from a stronger china

there are fewer japanese than chinese
that is why japan failed in its campaign towards world domination
yeah and who is going to pay for the price? Women? children? Young soldiers at the prime of their lives?Originally posted by boy in blues:that's japanese military spirit
if all chinese adopts it, china will be invincible
offense is the best defense
whichever country chooses to be a sitting duck and wait to defend against attack will suffer terribly
sorry dude, i dunno if you are seriously saying this or not, but i do not condone any acts of violence on an innocent person. Not then, and definately not now.Just because they rape and murder doesn't mean i should do the same. If i have to serve in an army like this, i would rather desert it or in a worse case senerio, have a bullet in my head than to continue serving it.Originally posted by boy in blues:during world war2, out of the thousands of japanese imperial soldiers, not even a single one of them asked themselves this question when they happily went on killing spree of innocent children and women
so you mean they are inhumane and we should be saints and overlook all their attempts to exploit our grace?
the hands of the entire japanese population have already been soaked in blood for a long time
it is not too early to see the ethnic cleansing of all japanese
so you are an advocate of war. good luck to you.Originally posted by boy in blues:during world war2, out of the thousands of japanese imperial soldiers, not even a single one of them asked themselves this question when they happily went on killing spree of innocent children and women.
offense is the best defense. chinese children and women suffered because japan attacked china. japanese children and women did not suffer (except A-bombing, which wasn't nearly enough anyway) because china did not attack japan.
the lesson learnt here is that, china must attack japan so that chinese children and women will not suffer
the hands of the entire japanese population have already been soaked in blood for a long time

and U.S. has ended the war too!!!Originally posted by boy in blues:japan is an advocate of war
they enjoyed good luck during post-war industrialization, which was initiated by military motivations
japan started the war
i did not start the war
so to your great opinion what else can or should be done?Originally posted by boy in blues:the US ended the war on US terms and US terms only
you are right. we singaporeans must see that the china/japan issue is a nationality issue not race. i.e. it is china against japan not chinese against japanese.Originally posted by nismoS132:i'm still furthering my education and career in japan.
