Boycotting Japanese products - A poll

Japan invaded spore as well n had killed many innocent people.
Will u forgive the murderers of ur parents/grandparents/sons/daugthers
who are still alive and dun feel apologetic at all?
FYI, to the japanese, the war is still a pride to them.
In time, the consumer products u buy will be Quality korean, china brands.
or even european brands.
Even now, korean cars are getting popular here. -
which country do not commit atrocities or kill innocent people in a war? it happened 60 yrs ago. Japan has taken 2 atomic bombs. the war is over. why do you want to burden yourself with such hatred? How do you know the japanese dont feel remorseful? whatever is happening now in the fast east are just politics. if china and korea is really so unhappy and want justice why dont they just attack japan? i am sure they wont have a problem winning the war. why? cos it is just politics to them. it will be many more years before china or korea can surpass japan. thus to the govt of japan there is no need to apologise yet. which PM of japan wants to have his name in history as the one who initiated an apology. moreover there is another factor - taiwan.Originally posted by NuLife:Japan invaded spore as well n had killed many innocent people.

It is quite surreal to see the governments and people of China and Korea up in arms over the Japanese government's whitewashing of its history in its school textbooks while the silence from Singapore is defeaning. I'm not sure what to make of it, but I can't say it puts us in a good light. Those who suffered and died during the Japanese Occupation must be spinning in their graves
I'm all for forgiveness and good relations, but not to the point of letting past aggressors re-write history. Our government should be ashamed of itself for keeping quiet. -

Why bother to boycott? Unless we can have our own brand which give better performances than Japanese brands.

japan is not concerned even with what korea and china thinks. do you think they could be bothered with our protest? -
I'm sure thats exactly the kind of mindset that the Japanese are counting on to help them get away with re-writing their past. And they'll probably get their way. Infact , to the Japanese, the war will always be a 'PRIDE' for them.
Esp the older generations. And this presents a critical problem.
Japan will continue to be arrogant due its economy power and influence.
The only way China and Korea can do is to surpass Japan in that.
The proud Japanese will not apologise easily and will always believe it
can fend off competitions from china and korea.
Unless the Japanese government wants to maintains a growing economy,
protects its people overseas and be a friend of other asian countries,
it will never apologise, as apologising will affect its people's pride. -

this shows that dividing the world into many countries will only slow down progress.
if there is no china japan divide, then this would not happened n the time lost could have been a lot more productive.

think abt this...:

will u forgive someone who do not regret for what he had done?

We have been been taught to forgive and forget,
thats only for the naive.
This is not just political issue, its abt humanity and answerings for the thousands/millions of souls that had died innocently.
In a way, a more powerful country wil be better
at seeking for answers for its people if anything happened.
Whereas a poor country cant do anything if its people suffer...
That why an Americans life is worth more than many others...

What the world want is an sincere apology from Japan.
But instead of that, they are telling its younger generation

the ministry approving the new textbooks is 1 thing.
the number of teachers who actually accept and use the new textbooks is another. i do not have specific numbers, and i really can't be bothered to go search through all the crap again, but a good number of japanese educators are against the new textbook.
it helps to look at things from all perspectives.
politics is politics. govts quarrel all the time. life still goes on.
we've had tons of trouble with malaysia and indonesia before. why doesn't anyone else suggest a boycott of these countries as well? -

If u have been following their progress in the tech industry,
u will know they are the envy of the world and a growing power.
