ON or OFF?

  Is it safe to on the desktop on for like one week? Will it cause any damages?

  You don't run windows xp? Laptop no on/off button?
  
  Your laptop lacks the "Fn" button? Mine is Fn+F6 to switch off the monitor only.
  
  When I'm not mucking around with the lappie, processor kernel usage stays below 3%, if it does heat up, it has its own fan. My hdd doesn't, and thats the only thing that runs when I'm not mucking around and the lappie is doing something.

  my laptop on continuously (connected to net) from friday nite 12.15am to jus now Monday 9pm

  The rechargable battery on the laptop have a limited cycles of a certain no. of yrs...
  
  Unless you dont mind having to change your battery every now and then, better switch it off when you are not using
  
  ..........And i have no idea of whether powering the laptop consume xtra energy
