  i have a turtle too, but mine the head always pop up of the water. and i dun put in a llot of water, juz enough to cover the shell......

  Do you feed your terrapin meat (like chicken or pork) ? my terrapin recently i feed them and look at them they wont eat ( i feed bloodworms and terrapin sticks), they looked isolated. M afraid they may starve..

  I think u should feed them the food pellets for terrapin.. can buy from aquarium shops.. pls stop feeding them veggies only.. they will become unhealthy as not enuff nutrients.... they are more of meat-lovers..

  So feeding them meat will make them grow faster? any ways to ensure their long term "survival" i just put them in a tank with shallow water. feed then pellets and worms (one cube) once a day only. Me have 2 terrapins of the size of the size slightly smaller than the size of a drink can.. Any im,provements can be done to my terrapins?

  they require a "balance".. in fact, they should be given more and more leafy greens as they start to grow..
  
  as for feeding, RES hunts in water.. they come on to land just for basking. hence, they are not biologically programmed to eat meat of land animals..

  i never feed my terrapins any veggie at all b4 actually... when they younger jus the pellets... den start to feed blood worms and prawns... buy from market those shelled prawns...
  
  u know the little frogs meant for feeding bigger fish? i feed them those oso.. they love it always fight for the frogs..

  Try give them some leafy vege. Mine do eat vege!

  I feed mine alot of diff veges and a standrad supply of domestic insects I manage to catch. It enjoys beetles. 8 years old now.

  Turtles have nostrils and no gills....so they need to come up to breathe air. They can hold their breaths for a very long time.....and some species are able to slow down their heart rate to almost dead to save oxygen.

  try to convince your family.. if they do not eat meat because of religions.. tell them that if your RES is not fed with some animal proteins, it will die..
  
  the principle for not eating meat is not wanting animals to get killed.. but if ur RES didnt eat meat, u r in fact murdering the RES directly..
