I don't think there is an intention to divide muslim and non muslim here. What they really try to say that to build two casinos here with a job propect for 10000, not all Singaporean is goint to benefit. Worst still for muslim when these place is forbidden to them. They don't benefit at all. Many Croupiers and Managers from Malaysia Genting will be flocking to Singapore for higher posts and higher salaries.
Afterall we are building from scratch, we do not have such talents. So even if the recruitments start, many of us the unemployed will still be under the Malaysians who threaten to stop selling us water.

btw the middle and upper management positions will and have to go to the FTs. we have no one good at casino management.
our govt must keep the croupier positions for singaporeans. such position can be trained. we must not offer it to malaysians. -

I agree totally. Now that the IRs aka casinos are here to stay, at least make sure that the new jobs created are reserved for Singaporeans. The government must make it a condition of the deal that operators of the IRs should offer these jobs at higher pay and that they should be reserved for Singaporeans in the first instance. In my mind, the only good that can come from the casinos is that we might be able to find decent-paying jobs for the uncles and aunties in their late 40s and 50s who have been retrenched from their jobs that are lost forever. Many of them are too old to be successfully re-trained for a job that can pay as well as the ones they have lost. Casinos earn huge sums of money and can afford to pay higher salaries for lower-skilled jobs.
We should distinguish between jobs in the open market that are subject to competition and those in the IRs, because Singaporeans are paying a high social price for the sake of the 10,000 jobs. They must not go to foreigners and we must hold Vivian Balakrishnan to this. -

But seriously, having 2 casinos at 1 time is going to be "double whammy" if the plan fails!
Was in Australia studying, where there is only 1 casino in the city of Hobart. When we went there, the place was almost empty. Imagine slot machines take 1 cents! Seriously, how do u think they will earn money? Already hotels have problems sometimes trying to get 100% occupancy. -
