for myself, hmm....i feel that the initial period when they have star search is successful because participants are restricted to Singaporeans and malaysians only. I feel comfortable seeing malaysians like Christopher lee for example acting in local dramas without having to PEI YING and his look got the kind of local flavour....keke...
lately the winners all come from china or taiwan and not many are that successful i suppose partly because there are not that many roles for them that they can fit in.
when you ask a taiwanese or a mainland chinese to act as one of the locals in dramas like Holland V, XI LING MEN, i will find it very weird. I would prefer watching people acting, speaking our kind of accent plus a bit of singlish, hokkien and stuff. plus the face also different, it's not hard for me to differentiate between a china man and fellow singaporeans for example. It's more obvious when they start talking.
so i still support local home grown products and it's better to nurture them via YAN YUAN XUN LIAN BAN -

Anyway with the merger there are now too many actors/ actresses/ hosts & not enough shows.
Hopefully TCS will 'retire' old actresses like Zoe, Sharon etc so the new ones will get their chances -

the star search thing is pointless lah. i don't even remember who are the recent past few winners. this shows that even before they make it big, a new star search is here already.

Good they are calling it off. They should put in more effort in grooming the young actors and actresses they have. For eg. , 715 (Qi Yiwu) was from Star Search too...only got to shine abit more recently. Should concentrate on nurturing them...they have one BULK of artistes (Mediaworks crossovers like Celest Chong, Adam Chan, Guo Huiwen, etc) leh...no need more liao.
