salary range for fresh diploma holder?

i went for an interview with an insurance company for Human resource cum admin position. when asked regarding the salary expectatin, i asked for a range bet 1600-1800.. is it reasonable? for a fresh poly graduate with many job experiences...

For a position like that at diploma level, I wouldn't dare ask beyond 1.6K. Even 1.4K would be erm, nevermind. -

fresh diploma holders in engineering can go to one of the most well known drinks manufacturer(american MNC) in tuas n try their technician position.
they r still recruiting
advertised in classified section in Lian HE Zao Bao a few days ago.
need to work 3 rotating shifts, no shift allowance, no transport allowance becos company transport provided. It's a one year contract job.
$1,300
i am not complaining because it's a decent job eventually. have to work hard and do lots of OT to earn more. -
$1600 is quite reasonable, $1800 may be a bit difficult unless u can convince them u are worth it.

HR position for new poly grads should be around $1400 to $1600!!

Salary range really depends on your experience and sometimes depend on what you did in the army and abit of your past participation in whatever you did.
Your pay range goes up more if you have more experience in terms of holiday jobs, vacation training. Even your attachment will work out to a reasonable amount of experience
Perhaps you can try asking in this manner
$1600 Including benefits like medical, transport etc
(in this way people will think and adjust. Its a average price for now)
I got a 5 day work week job and paying above $1600 by saying that above sentence, of course tough interview..
For poly graduate, it is still possible to get $1800 at least from this perspective of course..
No offence to anyone.. just my 2cents worth..
I believe everyone will eventually strive and work hard to get their deserving pay.
$1200 is considered low already for a polytechnic graduate.
Think positive! Your diploma is worth more than THAT!! ANd it a fact!!

$1200 is certainly low..after CPF less than 1k .. how to survive in SG... But sometime Beggar cant be chooser ... just take any job that come along first then continue looking for better opportunity ...Wish you all GOOD LUCK!

starting pay is not the only thing , think far
rate of advancement/increment /prospect is also important if you plan to stay long. in that job
Mostly depend on the Nature of the Job,
some jobs starting pay is very high but , the opportunity for advancement is almost nil .. .
would you rather start with $ 1600 but can eventually get $ 2500 after 5-6 years or you wan a job that paids starting $2000 and still pays $ 2000 after 5-6 years.?
anyway , if it's you first job, dunit to nitpick, get some experience first ,It's not like you're gonna work there forever..
with experience , next time you're in a better position to ask for more.., -

it depends what qualifications u have.
But that range u are asking is too high.
Most companies only willing to pay $1.4k -
Earn ur experience before you talk abt pay...
