hard earned cpf all gone...

wish to give my wife to be her dream to hold in a posh hotel..too ex..can't afford..
something cannot be cut however i got friends who take renovation loan, car loan, buy a 400k apartment..whole life in debt...when r they going to finish paying? cpf will be depleted..where got money to retire? plus inflation ten twenty years down, tis place is getting more & more ex to live in..me will migrate one day..dubai..here i come 25 200 for a car, save 3k per month, tax free...woo.. -
My ex boss who tied the knot soon after his tertiary studies had to borrow close to $120K from his folks and sis to settle down. They've finally cleared that debt and now have a huge house and 3 kids. He's now in his late 30s.

we only got 3 rm flat so keep it simple
renovation keep simple
furniture spread out purchases over many months
no aircon till can afford it...
wedding photography only take for customary and actual day (so $700 in all)
didnt bother to do those 'look good but boliao shots'
dress and everything also look for cheaper alternatives
we didnt cut down on our banquet cos.. well
its THE celebration. Dress not nice never mind
but its nice for friends and relatives to enjoy a nice dinner ba
it is not impossible to do it budget

actually nowadays alot of couples dont go for sit down wedding anymore, most of then have a simple wedding at places like poolside etc.. i think as long as both you happy, dont have to bother so much.

Banquet and photography - you can recoup much of it with guest angpows.
Renovation - even if you don't get married, you have to move out some day and you still have to renovate whichever new place you move into.
Pigeon Hole - this may not a cost....it may instead be an investment. You may get more than what you paid in the future. -
family gathering can liao..save money, time n effort....
the rest spend on honeymoon... -
