Anyway it IS to the shareholder's and company's interest that SMRT raises fare prices. AND Temasek holdings owns 934 400 030 shares of SMRT....

i saw in the news that CASE's president said the fares increase is not justifiable....

but what is the point?
CASE is really just for show... got mouth, no teeth... useless!
I remembered CASE also criticised the increase in the prices of newspaper... But, in the end also no use...

perhaps SMRT's application could go thru, perhaps not.
but i think they are applying for the sake of applying. afterall, there is nothing to lose.
outta 3 applications, one is bound to go thru.
i wonder what will happen if the PTC set a rule like: if their application is rejected, they must decrease the fare based on how much they applied in the first place. HAHHAHAHHA

Day dream... Comfort is not selling NEL... Even if SMRT really takes over, what makes you sure that it will open the 2 stn since NEL is bleeding? SMRT will put NEL frequency at 10 mins instead of 5-7 mins what SBS put. Em... Excuse me, you sure there are 22 stn in 1st place? Convention Ctr, Millenia, Nicoll Highway, Blvd, Dhoby Ghaut, Museum will only open later when the rest have opened -
That's why SMRT is not really happy that the more profitable CCL stretch is delayed because of Nicoll Highway...
And you can buy SMRT share when it plunge... The current $0.90+ is too high as profit is lower than last year's -

Being crippled? May be its a good reason for them to retire and get a golden handshare in the millions (not including their mega insurance payout). Anyway, the probability of them getting run over by car is minimal because they drive, unlike you and I would take public transport. When they drive, they walk less distance on the roadside compared to you or I.
I just hope they langa into LKY's car, damage on the cars and no one is hurt and LKY makes them take public transport for the rest of their lives! -

according to the news, they said the increase will not be more than 5cent. -
The way I see it, by being a profit-making corporation, they feel that they are mainly answerable to their shareholders.
Of course, in the end they end up forgetting that they're answerable to Singaporeans.
I hope the authorities will do the sensible thing and turn down this blatant display of money-making.
And don't give me this crap about how this so-called 'world-class transport system' deserves to earn good profits. As it is, it should stop trying to flatter itself and focus on giving an affordable, decent public transport system to normal Singaporeans... something which it has yet to achieve.
