What kind of rites will be performed?Originally posted by deathscythe99:Cremation is on Friday...

U'll get to know....Originally posted by iveco:What kind of rites will be performed?
u might be involved in the state funeral? i thought u have ORDed?Originally posted by deathscythe99:U'll get to know....
But whether will be activated....Another matter...so...
From the looks of it, this funeral might be given full state honours.. someone said Mr Wee will be lying in state at the istana from tues to thurs. This is similar to the one given to our first President Yusof Ishak who died while in office.Originally posted by CoolMyth:If no, there will be quite a lot of silent complaints....rememeber when Ong Teng Cheong pass away? I think there'll be something similar....
Not me lor....I got check with some of my ex-colleagues.Originally posted by cornyfish2000:u might be involved in the state funeral? i thought u have ORDed?

Whereas Mr Ong's one wasn't.
as i said in a post after the raping one, the rapign and maiming was extreme but the principle is still there, you wont praise that guy completey because there is still a chance he will do somethign wrong that will make you wrong about what you said. just imagine, he was known as a being very friendly to pple then one day because he was in a very bad mood he throws pple out of some place or start alienating pple, it wont whitewash his name but it would tarnish it and thus make the speaker wrong. and admit it pple do not like to be wrongOriginally posted by wuming78:hm..how possible is it that someone who has lived a life of honour and integrity and dignity for 7 to 8 decades suddenly decides to whitewash all the good that he has accumulated for himself by doing all those? and if he had the inclination for these activities, wont they have been manifested in the 90% of his living time, rather than the last few percent? and has there been such cases in history?

Many of us had fond memories of him and his humility.Originally posted by auringedotcom:I woke up damn late today and just saw the news a couple of hours ago.
I am deeply saddened by his passing.
I remember when I was 11, I attended an event where he was the guest of honour. I was queuing behind him in the buffet line, and he turned to me and asked, "So, how do you find the food?"
I was so extremely in awe that all I could say was, "Ok lah..."
He gave his trademark smile and told me to enjoy the dinner.
As I thought back over the years, I was like, OMFG, the president of Singapore spoke to me and all I could say was 'Ok lah...'
He is a really nice guy, hope he's in a better place now.
Very likely?Should think so..Originally posted by deathscythe99:Not me lor....I got check with some of my ex-colleagues.

Ya... then since u're old enough now... please feel free to step up as an opposition member and make your views known at the Speakers Corner. If u have the guts and the brains to go through, who knows... we might even elect you.Originally posted by lwflee:RIP.
Having said that, i am strongly opposed to some of the actions taken by the government in the 1980s. Because he is the president of Singapore at that time, i hold him partly responsible.
