Student in School, whose responsibilty?

got a question: where do the parents stand in this?
whatever happened to THEIR responsibility to bring the child up properly?
frankly, the school is not a concentration camp.. don't blow this up as a knee-jerk action and turn our schools into concentration camps...
maybe the school needs to take some responsibility, but given loads of children milling around aimlessly at recess, you think one or two sneak out, it is so easy to keep track of?
then, there's the state of mind of the child...
what turned her into a runaway? the school? the parents?

They have come to term with this incidents leow .... But there is still concern ... will she run away again, since the school know that it can happen and is still happening, shouldn't they shoulder more responsibilities like at least keep the gate close... all other school is doing this in wake of terrorist attack and isn't is about time this school do something. not for the terrorists at least to keep the student in school....Originally posted by nismoS132:it's the girl's own fault for playing truan,. not the school.

Like in son case, the gate are open most of the time because of visitor and delivery van coming in etc.... but they close it on recess time. REcently, the gate are closed all the time. They got this two uncles taking turn to open gate for visitor now... I may be wrong but I am taking these two schools to compare. Like I said, I hope more of you guys here who are in the Education sector to come out and give view lor.. I am not saying my friend is not responsible for her child neither do I believe the school is all innocent since they refuse to come to reasoning. Instead of pushing the responsibility between the school and parent we have never even hit the main source of the problem. I notice this is a fight between parents and school no one even have the heart to care why she run?
I am very sad to see this no wonder people say singapore school no hope.
I believe even terrorist cannot even be borther to bomb school cos in the end everyone just blame someone no one will ever admit is there fault.
Is she bully in school? Is she treaten in school>? Is teacher trying to bully her ?
My heart really goes to the kid, is just her luck to be born in a place where no one cares about her and only knows how to fight for their face only. -
You are right, but I can offer no answer as I do not have one.. But I do know the child is playful. Always wanting to try something new... At home she is a darling. Some schools are just really bo liao. they care about the wrong thing, like collecting handphones from students coz its wrong to bring handphones to school. As if the handphone will kill the teachers with radiation.
Isnt personalsafety more important? what happens if she goes out and commit suicide? u never know rite?
I just have to say that the schools should set the right priorities. -

Anyway I agree with the rest that it is more important to find out why the girl keeps skipping school. Is she being bullied, for example.
Haha I know someone who wanted to skip class and used a pair of pilers to cut a big hole in the wire fence to get out.
If you want to get out of school, there are lots of ways to do so -
Brings back such fond memories of me running off to the nearby mama store to buy toys and comics.
How can the school effectively look the gates when there are other students come and going for various other activities???
Lock the school gate and parents will cry foul - PRISON!!!!
Don't lock and let people come and go - WAH!!! DANGEROUS, RAPIST, CHILD MOLESTORS, WEIRDOS etc.
There are even cases of parents quarrelling with school staff for not allowing them in....
This case is a serial offender... so probably why the harsh punishment.
I say send her to girls home.... and taste prison life for a while. -
