Singaporean dont enjoy making new friend?

This is what happen. Last night someone in my msn contact list came online. Knowing I must have chat with her before, I greeted her. However maybe due to the fact that we did not see each other for a long long time, neither of us can remember one another. So I start a little chat with her hoping I can remember something. But somehow she just told me she want to forget all about it and pretend as if nothing had happen. Not wanting to be a pest, I agree and just let it be.
However her response strike me that many Singaporean complained that they had no friends or no social circle. However, do they even understood that before someone can be your friend, they are stranger too.
So I wonder is it a danger to chat with a stranger? -

What happens after you let her be? Don't quite get that part.
My opinion is that this kind of thing is on a case-by-case basis. Heng suay lor....that stranger can be a future good friend or a pervert, you never know..... -
I never seem to face this problem, I talk to people I meet online all the time..but how many times I talk with them would depend on how I find them during the first few talks lor -

you dont equate making friends online with say, making friends at school or via introduction. it pays to be careful with whoever one is dealing with online. there are all sorts of perverts out there. or maybe here in this forum.

if i am free i do not mind chatting online with someone i totally do not know. like in irc. but if i bo eng. i don think i will fo it. unless the person is very close to me else i do not give a damn.
anyway i haven met people online for a looooong time liao. oni use to do that when i was younger. -

i would definitely agree with you on that one.. online people now are more rude. i mean come on, you can be a mafia and the person you're talking to may be a primary school kid yet when you say you're from the mafia, the kid can still scold you etc and all that rubbish. what im trying to say is people online nowadays are very rude. being conservative and weary is good, as you really don't know who's on the other side of the conversation.. those rude people probably heard stories of people getting cheated and etc that they take extra precaution to protect themselves from the dangers the internet can bring.. this may be one of the problems that anyone face when chatting with another online stranger.

chatting does not mean having to reveal anything about urself. just remember to be careful should u intend to meet up with someone from the net.
