Guess the inherent danger of online "friends" is that because we don't see the other party's face, we tend to lower our guard and reveal more of our inner selves. Sometimes we may unknowingly let slip and expose our weaknesses to people who could exploit this knowledge to their advantage.
However, there is a positive side to the coin as well. There are quite a lot of couples these days who started off as online "friends" and ended up as lifetime partners. Even without meeting each other, these couples would probably already have shared much intimate knowledge of themselves between each other through online conversations. So much that when they eventually do meet up in real life (perhaps after exchanging photos), they'd already have seen past the face to the heart of the person.
Just as we meet all kinds of people in real life, we'd meet all kinds of people online, too. And just as in real life, onlie friendships could either grow or fade away with time as well. See open...
