Teachers are graded A, B , C or D. The grade is use as a benchmark to decide how much bonus and salary increment a teacher deserves.

Grades are very important for teachers, it determines their chances of getting promoted to a HOD position. There was one time in school when I had a feud with a maths teacher. She stir up a lot of shit on me and I did the same to her. During the mediation session with her, she tried to get me to see things her way . When I refused, she cried and said that becos of the complaint letter(which I send) to the principal and MOE, her grade fell from A to D. Then she kept saying things like her pay is only 2.8k, now she no bonus she cant survive blah blah.
So I guess a teacher's grade is very important. -

there are 2 class... class 1 teachers are those with a levels + degree.. class 2 teachers are those wif diploma ...
i noe that there are superscale salary... for those principals.. their pay and abiity matches that of any director in MOE.. den there are senior teachers as well.. whose role is to mentor, guide younger teachers... earn quite alot leh the educators..

well, about complaint letters...
what i see in the ministries is that they have been held hostage by these complaint letter things...
if the complaint is legitimate, fine...
but what they get is mostly crap but the teachers are dragged through the mud the moment the letter is opened by the principal...
that's something that needs to be changed.. -

I think all schools should have a formal teacher evaluation system in which students/parents are required to appraise the teachers at fixed intervals (eg. at the end of every semester). I believe this will help weed out the teachers who aren't interested in helping students at all.

the investigation itself stinks.. the teacher would be assumed guilty and they work from there...
remember the incident with the ACS Principal?
the incident was thrown out by the police because they found the allegations and complaints to be pure rubbish.. but MOE pulled the principal from the school, put him in their HQ and "did their own investigations"..
pulling a principal from the school was tantamount to an admission of guilt and the principal could not do a single thing... because of the actions of the MOE, the principal was seen as a child-molester... even when the "victim" came out and said that his parents were lying, MOE refused to reinstate the principal until they were left with no alternative because of the fact that the principal was truly innocent of all allegations made by the parents!!
now, if there was no hesitation in pulling the principal out even when the allegations were found to be false by the police, imagine what goes on behind closed doors?
frankly, i was surprised the parents got away scot-free... there is an act in the Penal Code that says lying to a public office on duty is punishable by a fine and imprisonment...

this is across the board for all civil service people.. the "evaluation"...
it is actually crap..

it's really hard to be teachers nowadays. other than teaching students, marking assignments, now they have this rank thingy.

the parents think teachers are substitute parents...
and when they are told of their own responsibilities to their own children, they lose their temper and complain against the teachers...
you need to get a license to own a dog.. but any braindeath can have children..

teaching is good money, but i think it can rank as a super stressful job next to nuclear missle silo staff.....did i spell missle wrong?
