a dedicated and good teacher of mine once said that "teaching is a calling, not a job or a career"..
sort of like nursing...
it is something in a person that makes the person want to do it... they are there not because of the pay or status but because they are driven...
and those who are driven, are few and far between...
sadly, because of what they are, they will never be those bigwigs or directors of the MOE.. as they will be the ones who will care for their charges, and take the responsibilities as an educator..
all the while, the self-serving climbers who do not care for their children and care even less for the institution of teaching will be promoted because politicking comes naturally to them..

Please spare a thought for the students also. Most of the time, the students or the parents of the student will only write a letter to MOE as a last resort. I was being victimized and picked at by my form and maths teacher in Sec 2. That is why I send a letter to MOE. My form teacher actutally got students to write fake statements about me being rude to teachers and even went round telling the school that she hated my guts and attitude. but what they get is mostly crap but the teachers are dragged through the mud the moment the letter is opened by the principal...
that's something that needs to be changed..
And I can assure you that Discipline Head is also full of Shit and crap. They will often believe the teacher and not the student. in the end I threaten to kick up a fuss and call in the press if they didnt do something to redress my greiviances. When they still didnt take me seriously, I fired a letter to MOE and another letter to the principal demanding that the teacher be sacked. In the end, they decided to drop the whole thing.

but seriously, there have been too many who have been dragged through the mud..

I can tell you that in Neighbourhood schools, students are treated like Shit ok. Thats because the teachers in neighbourhood schools assume that they are handling students with monkey brains. In good schools like ACS and RI, the teachers there dont even dare to call them"pea brain" or "monkey". If you read before on one of my earlier post which I posted last year, it would give you an idea on how unreasonable school rules in neighbourhood schools can be.
FYI, I did nothing to incur the teacher's wrath. She was just plain Biased. During the ongoing feud with her, my english and literature grade suffered a drop.
And she likes to scold students using crude and vulgar names like "pig" "idiots"....I should have send her a lawyer letter.

anyway, if i were to write a complaint letter , i would be more evil and get more pple to draft an official letter to send to MOE..

That's why i suggest that we should have a formal feedback session where students and their parents will appraise the teachers, in addition to appraisal by the HOD and the principal.
