Somehow i sympathise with Jason...newspapers are going to portray him as a person who is responsible for all this "adult" fan-fare...the actual fault lies with the pple uploading the pictures...no sense of responsibility at all...
Certainly..it doesn't help at all..to PUT something into newspapers..

They put the article on Sggirls.com together with the other article “The Producer of Chee Soon Juan’s Feature Film To Be Interrogated Coming Monday by Police” side by side. This gives a sort of seriousness to the article on Sggirls.com. (I guess the editor may be using this as a tactic to serve warning to Sggirls.com?)
The fact is that the article on Sggirls.com touches only on the unhappiness expressed by a parent, who had called up the newspaper. This is a reporting on one parent perspective. There is nothing in the article proper to suggest any wrong doing.
Hence at the end of the article it mentioned they tried to contact Jason “to confirm the traffic of 10.7 millions hits a month at sggirls.com” and nothing else.

Personally, I just hope that whatever happens to SGgirls, the fallout to SGforums will be limited. After all, it's not as if we're all discussing smut here... I've read thru and engaged in many meaningful conversations in these forums. The last thing I want is to lose one of my avenues of discussion with others.

Objectionable website on Singaporean girls
This is getting interesting. I await the responses.
At first glance, the website www.sggirls.com seems to be showcasing Oriental beauties but, beneath that facade of innocence, it is anything but decent.
Most of the photographs are of Singaporeans girls, as indicated by the website's address. I believe many of the photographs were published without their owners' knowledge.
Most of these photographs came out of good, clean fun, but the comments below some of them carry sexual innuendos; others - featuring male fantasies - are outright obscene.
The pictures are even divided into categories, including one of girls in school uniforms. Even these photographs of students in their uniforms are not spared the risque remarks, and risk damaging the school's reputation.
Worse still, innocent victims are getting their name tarnished and are being subjected to emotional and mental harm - that is, if they are aware that that their photographs are being scrutinised by people all over the world. Such audacity and impudence cannot be tolerated.
Although every individual has a role to play in protecting his rights and preventing the invasion of privacy, it must be noted that many of the photographs are ordinary, everyday ones and may have been put up elsewhere on the Internet - if not by the subjects themselves, then by friends, who had no intention whatsoever of causing harm to them.
It is the abusers who have so odiously re-published the photographs on sggirls.com, together with lewd remarks.
Ever since the Internet was established, there has been much controversy regarding its pros and cons. As much as I enjoy logging on, some people have turned what was meant to benefit the human race into a forebidding realm - and they have taken it a step too far this time.
The development of digital cameras have made it easier for pictures to be uploaded on the Internet. Not surprisingly, mankind has yet again found a way to misuse the work of geniuses.
Technology is constantly advancing and the Internet is no longer simply a virtual world providing information and entertainment.
It is, in fact, an extension of our real world, and it is high time that laws are extended to this new boundary.
I am sure the authorities would not be happy to have people around the world stumbling onto www.sggirls.com and going, "Oh! So this is what Singaporeans girls are like."
I hope the authorities will act on this matter.

as for sggirls.com, couldnt they put a language/moderation/filter on the comments side, or just take off the ability to comment? [as per the example on militaryphotos.net when the comments became a secondary battlefield..or childrens playground depending on your viewpoint..] -
