this is not correct at all. I spent some time in Melbourne/sydney/tokyo/hong kong/toronto... all are the same...Originally posted by ditzy:Name me another major city in the world that virtually none of such incidents are existent. erm, depends on yr physical size lor!!Originally posted by Glen999:to be honest, i don't think standing side by side on escalator is inconsiderate.
i spent almost 2 years in tokyo.. sometimes, i think the concept of "stand on one side, walk on another side" just causes traffic jam at the escalator...Originally posted by BITCHY_BITCH:erm, depends on yr physical size lor!!
Fully agree with you... unfortunately people here are too immature to realise this. What is the use of comparing to other cities or making other excuses? Fix your own back yard and be "unique".Originally posted by Iamporean:Its a shame that the Singaporean here tends to shrug off this problem rather than to make amends.
Preferring to flaming others constructive criticism, how are we going to live up to us being a true International City.....the mecca of metros in Asia?!
All the government effort in promoting Singapore to the world would be wash off the face of the earth like a tsunami, if we, the people of Singapore, do not learn to accept and amend criticism well.
With the on going efforts of the government in developing a multi billion dollar integrated resort, all we are going to do is destroy it with our conceitedness.
We should learn from the countries that had succeeded, as they had also learn from others.
So stop being a baby and be the real man for Singapore.

I agree, and thats why I do not travel on group tours, choosing the free & easy option instead, even if it is a little more troublesome finding my way around, but doing away with the need to follow a fixed timetable makes it more enjoyable anyway.Originally posted by Weirdo80:Singaporeans are always complaining, littering, talking loudly or rushing to be the first and oblivious to people around them.
It's just that I have yet to see a Singaporean tourist behave in a courteous and gracious manner overseas. Every time I go back to SG for a holiday, I have to get used to the ungraciousness again. I don't see how running to be first in line for the bus can make you get to your destination sooner. And it's sad to see people fighting with the disabled for seats.
You do take public transport right? Bus? MRT? Queue cutting takes place ALL the time!Originally posted by chronicles:3)Cut Q?I have hardly seen it
4)Jaywalker, obviously the jaywalker would use the most oppurtunate time and roughly estimate when is the best time to dash across the road right
i cant believe what you have say.Originally posted by av98m:You do take public transport right? Bus? MRT? Queue cutting takes place ALL the time!
Jaywalking is quite a serious problem here, I see people taking some really crazy chances, and am actually quite suprised that not more people are killed on the roads each year.
why? so that singapore can attract more tourist? and government got more reason to hide poor beggers away from strategied places so that tourists will not see them?Originally posted by Iamporean:Its a shame that the Singaporean here tends to shrug off this problem rather than to make amends.

1) They do not give way on escalators...blocking both sides. When you say excuse me, they get angry
2) Pedestrians stroll across the road even though they are jay walking (hoping to get knock over and win $2mio I guess)
3) Walk down Orchard road, once again nobody will move to one side...they prefer to walk into you
4) They love to jump queues
5) They hate to serve another Singaporean (shops/restaurants)
The list goes on and on....I guess this is a society of Ah bengs and Ah lians! Maybe I should write a book!
